What on the roads has annoyed you today?
Bellend Sebastian replied to Parafox's topic in General Chat
After 3 incidences in a week of cars coming towards me crossing the centre line by quite a lot for no reason before the driver remembers they're in control of a vehicle and correcting it, I'm wondering if staying on your side of the road is no longer considered a basic requirement of driving -
There's nearly 3 weeks to go, they may yet win me over

I got married under the Conservatives Had two healthy children under the Conservatives Had a couple of lovely holidays under the Conservatives Learned some great guitar riffs under the Conservatives Had some smashing puddings under the Conservatives Yet still I hate them
-
It does take the shine off getting a new thing a bit, doesn't it? I think this was part of why I didn't rush to unbox mine. The quick/start assembly guide was hilariously bad as well. All done now though
-
Headphone sockets on mobile phones. Makes me LIVID
-
It's not my first LG TV so it was a lot less painful than it might have been, and it's connected by ethernet which cuts down slightly on faff. Christ knows how you'd cope if you were elderly or tech averse
-
Did eventually get it out of the box and managed to get the stand on without breaking it. Seems fairly enormous compared to what I'm used to (I've gone from a 40 to 50 inch display) but overall I'm quite impressed
-
It's arrived and I can't be arsed to get it out of the box now

I should've known someone would ask. I would say the bag of carrots that my then lodger pulled down from a high shelf only to dislodge what can only be described as putrid ectoplasm from a vegetable that had gone off in a spectacular new way. Something had not smelled good for a few weeks and when its source was discovered it went from 'do you think something smells a bit off in here' to a panicked dash out of the back door and a lot of retching within about 5 seconds. The other was the room you had to go through to get to the bins at the pork pie factory where I did a few shifts as a student many moons ago. I don't know what caused it, but it was like nothing else I've smelled and if you didn't hold your breath I think there was a genuine risk of being overwhelmed by it
-
I did it years ago. Cannot remember how long we took but I'm guessing it was 9 hours or so, we certainly didn't rush. What sticks in my mind was staying in a youth hostel the night before and getting literally not a second's kip, which is why I never went to one ever again, and a sheep carcass on one of the peaks being in my top three worst smells ever

Is that what she said? Oh FFS

We have a couple of 22kw chargers at work and the time saving is helpful, although the frequency that you actually need to be able top up quickly will depend on your circumstances; I almost never have to, but it's different for my colleagues that have to drive a lot for their job. My only real criticisms of the Ioniq 5 are the same that a lot of owners have - the absence of a rear wiper is daft, although it's rarely a real issue, and due to a careless design oversight the rear seatbelt buckles rattle against the door frame if the last person to use them doesn't position them to avoid this, which drives me potty (and I can confirm children cannot be trained to give a toss about this)
-
Used Ioniq 5s are reasonably priced now compared to what they were if you can live with not having a premium brand, you might get a relatively recent one with your budget. Interior space is one of the best things about it. Not driven it abroad but everything I've read about taking EVs to the continent suggests that if anything the infrastructure over there is better than here. I don't know enough about electrical supply to comment on that - is 3 phase the same as DC? I use my home charger so little I cannot remember what it is. Is it 7 or 11 kWh that's the usual maximum at home? If I had solar panels I'm sure I'd use it a lot more

I succumbed and bought a 50" LG something or other that was 700 quid at quite a few places, but had 150 off at a couple of shops and still managed to get the 20% LG TV discount. Not seen any reviews of this particular model (it's this year's) so may be no great shakes in the grand scheme of things but at that price I'm delighted
-
Well I sort of assumed that would be the case, he's been relatively high profile since the mid 1990s? But evidently not. The chap I was talking to did a Google image search and just didn't recognise him. If I'd never stumbled across him when his programmes were being broadcast, I'm sure I would've been told about them by friends or read an article or interview in the press, I agree though, it seemed unbelievable at first I
-
I'm guessing with Michael Mosley it depends on whether much factual BBC content is consumed in your house. I went for lunch on Sunday with some friends (husband, wife, four kids, aged 12-18) and this was big, big news for all present. Mind you, I was telling somebody today about seeing Louis Theroux live at the weekend and they hadn't heard of him, so again it all just depends on the media sphere you choose to inhabit isn't it?

20% off most LG tellies at Richer Sounds but ends tonight. Come a bit soon for me, I think, but may yet give in. I was going to go for the Amazon Omni but 1) I don't want to give them any more money and 2) there's only a year's warranty on them which seems a bit tight. Having had a Samsung replaced 4 years into a 5 year warranty and my father in law's needing a potentially not economic repair not that many years into its life I don't want to take a chance on that

It IS very much a no-go zone, but one you are allowed to go to and nobody minds, and in some ways that actually encourage you to go there by having a nice environment, public transport that works, hanging baskets outside corner pubs etc. I'm all for no-go zones if they're like that

Back in Leicester after 48 hours of not mentally expensive fun in the capital. Bit mad that drink and food don't seem any cheaper in Leicester now. Had a great time, meeting up with old friends, bumping into a current one and was made up that the surprise guest at live Adam Buxton podcast recording we'd gone down for was Louis Theroux, result. Surprise musical guest was Richard Dawson, even better. Only real disappointment was Sharia law barely being enforced, if at all

But not impossible

When Penny gets home I'm going to tell her how crap she's been in no uncertain terms. Might text her to say she might as well leave early
-
I'm amazed they've stuck with that. Fair play to Mishal calling out the lie though, I was worried things were getting to the point where this stuff gets ignored
-
I thought it would be trite to mention it but yes, you're right, it IS problematic
-
I've got a half hour window to try and do something about it. I'm going in

My BT/EE full fibre broadband that went in in January is shite, I feel your pain. I'm building up to a complaint but I just cannot be arsed
