But it’s an irrelevant stat. Score more goals and you win. Even if you make one chance and take it but opposition have numerous and don’t. Bit like the possession stats. Look at us when we won the league. Possession wasn’t our big thing but we won games without having more possession. It really does boil down to just scoring more than the opponents.

The stats at half time showed Souttar having 62 touches and Alves only 15. The amount of frustrating play, involving Souttar standing on the ball on the halfway line, then passing it forward 2 yards to a player with 2 opposition on his back, getting it back and having nowhere to go. Absolutely no forward drive from the team. I assume this is down to the manager and his outdated tactics.How did Oxford score? They obviously know our game as slow build up, slow defenders too high up the pitch and we take so long to reach or not reach the area, that their defence is able to have a little chat whilst waiting. RM system is outdated and mind numbingly boring, but more importantly, is losing us matches.

He is shaky and often puts the defenders in trouble when he play it out. Not helped though by having no strong physical presence in the middle of the defence. What happened to the square jawed tough defenders like Huth? Him and Wallington would probably strengthen the defence 😉

How can any manager/coach, think that playing parallel to the goal by playing across the pitch, getting within 25 yds of the opponents goal then going back to the halfway line or further, is the way to try and win matches? Yesterday, particularly in the 1st half, the Burton keeper could have sat in the stand. We play the ball backwards so often it is mind numbingly boring. I cannot understand how coaches think this is the best way to play. We actually haven’t got the players to do it anyway. And it is Soooooo boring and frustrating. Also, are the players ever aware just how long is left in a match. The amount of times when there’s about 1 minute left and we’re dilly dallying around our own penalty are as if we’ve got loads of time.

It doesn’t compare to Forest as their glory days were 2 generations ago.
