  1. Next to nothing on TikTok. A sure sign that we are adding few fans in the younger generation. Still dining out on 5,000-1 as far as social media goes. Doesn't help in the race for sponsorship ₤₤₤ ...
  2. Fun so far! Good crowds; I’ve been a couple of times. It is obvious that they have replaced one great manager with another. LCFC could use their expertise in hiring gaffers. As to our (now 42-22) start, I wouldn’t say it’s smoke and mirrors - this team is genuinely good - but it is unsustainable. The problem is the rotation. With two starters down for the year, it’s not much good. We need one (or preferably two) replacements to be sure of the playoffs, much less do damage in them. Our budget doesn’t buy joy, and the brass won’t move prospects, so our one real hope is that a young fireballer named Gavin Williams can return from injury and contribute significant innings. That might be a long shot, but this team is as fun to watch as anything in MLB, and I’ll keeping heading downtown to do so.
  3. I don't dislike Enzo,, even though he's chosen to **** us over. I would like to see him fail at Chelsea, but if he does have what it takes to make it big in the long run, good on him. This journnalist orifice who handles his PR though, can go to hell.
  4. Glad to see Enzo learned so much from his first gig in Parma ... Clearly he's desperate to get back to making sense of a grab-bag squad grabbed by the dozen by clueless Yank owners. Should be a match made in heaven. What could go wrong?
  5. Seems that way … but even that business model survived only on a 1,000-1 stroke of incredible good fortune with a goal-line technology miscue. Margins can be so fine for all but the richest clubs.
  6. Trusted them absolutely under Khun Vichai. Can’t trust them today under Top. Way too much weak indecision and too many wrong decisions. Absolutely hoping they manage to rebuild our trust over the next few years ... ... hoping is not the same as expecting. Still grateful for all they’ve done for the club and do NOT care for the entitled, What Have You Done For Me Lately attitude of too many supporters.
  7. I suspect he does have what it takes to be a successful manager in the long run. The long run does not exist at Chelsea. This should be interesting. In more important news, we'll shortly know if our board is finally getting their act together, or if they are just casting about in unprepared and reactive fashion.
  8. A bit past his teens no doubt, but I've heard that Ric is still a player in one of the lower leagues
  9. We all sell out sooner or later FWIW, Ric's views struck me as extremely balanced and reasonable. I could have read them saved myself the last week's worth of reading everybody's venting on here. If you have the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5524236/2024/05/29/maresca-chelsea-leicester-fans/
  10. For those who haven't found their way over there ... https://www.theshedend.com/topic/36622-maresca-and-chelsea-to-agree-contract-terms/ ... and if you can't be bothered, just rest assured few consider him an upgrade on Pochettino
  11. Maresca fleeing false promises from our board? He can’t be so stupid as to not see an even more erratic ownership at Chelsea, who have similarly pissed away their last couple years of monetary advantage. My guess, it’s just much bigger pay and resources, and an opportunity of the type which may not come again soon. Impossible to foresee what will happen. He hit the ground running here, taking advantage of players better than most he came up against. Poch left Chelsea in a much better situation than Rodgers left us. And Maresca will again have players better than much of the opposition. But since the Clearlake board seem to still think they are the smartest people in the room (despite all evidence to the contrary), it's hard to see them aligning with any top-level head coach in the long run.
  12. Leeds are a big club measured by number of hometown supporters. And weren't they once regarded as one, due to prominence and success in the League/Europe? But in 2024, they stand out only for consistent failure in the moments that could have re-established the club. Neutrals hate Leeds because their fans give it even bigger than those of genuinely successful and big clubs. If you want to dish it out, (a) you’d better have the cattle to go with that big Stetson hat, and (b) you’d better be able to take it when you have it coming. Leeds fans have nothing to brag about ... but holy crap, do they brag. And holy crap, do they dish it out. But they can’t handle getting any back, because any contact with reality explodes their mythos that LUFC are still a club that matters. In their minds, Leeds United = Manchester United. In the real world, Leeds = Sunderland (without the documentaries).
  13. Was it the pressure of the richest game in football? Are all those feelings of failure and shame coming back? Must you always obsess over being shite when it really counts? Is there any other way to plug that hole in your finances? Are you ready to face the world tomorrow, after you spent the whole year bigging yourself up?
  14. Today's Sunday homily ...
  15. Now where have we seen that before?
  16. AKA "Jonny Evans incoming"
  17. Lovely assist
  18. Who else but Finnegan would have known that Marie Kondo is such a huge City fan ?
  19. Certainly true - and easy enough to say from the outside. The surprising thing is, scanning their forums, most seem to agree with you. If Enzo took off this summer ours wouldn't be so philosophical.

  21. Multiple layers of individual interpretation. Zero layers of clear definition or fact. Millions of pounds invested in a process to produce this.
