Trump has never really been coherent. You may have forgotten his ‘cure for covid’, which was injecting people with disinfectant and exposing them to UV light. Whether they’re talking about his UN address, or his next garbage speech, they’re not talking about Epstein which I am sure is a big motivating factor for him these days.

Another masterclass from Arteta. For the second PL game in a row he picks a midfield of Rice, Merino and Zubimendi and leaves Eze and Nwaneri on the bench. We created nothing in that first half, just like the Liverpool game. He rings the changes at the start of the second and I am going to assume Madueke was injured, because he was our best player in that first half. I heard him described as temu pep the other day, which sounds about right.

Disney have the resources to tie up him in the courts. Not sure how Trump will shut NYT down, unless he bankrupts them, which is unlikely. Maybe by 2028, the Democrats will actually be able to put out a strong candidate to thwart whatever dynasty plans Trump might have.

Disappointing that a billion dollar company like Disney are choosing to bend the knee instead of litigating, but I see they paid out 15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit to Trump last year, so have form for it. Can’t see Trump winning his case against the NYT, or at least hope not. As you say Fox can get away with inciting the murder of homeless people without censure. Since this is just the beginning of Trump’s second term, project 2025 is in full swing.

US corporations and indeed anyone bowing down to Trump. ABC cancelling Jimmy Kimmel because of some quite mild remarks over the Kirk shooting. ‘Land of the free, home of the brave’ indeed. It won’t make a blind bit of difference of course, but have now cancelled my Disney plus subscription as my protest against ABC.

Just finished this. Quite an atmospheric twisty sci fi thriller and definitely the first Argentinian series I’ve ever watched.

It would be nice when mods were banning someone, if they told them a, why they were banning them and b, how long the ban might last for. I am going to surmise that a multitude of people aren’t banned every single day, so it’s not a question of workload.

I seemed to have been banned from General News thread for not being a fan of Charlie Kirk. I marvel at the hypocrisy of the news outlets and social media in general whilst covering this shooting, fawning over the guy like he was some sage of his times. Mirrored by Trump during his pathetic, partisan nation address, referencing a shooting in 2017 of a Republican member of congress and omitting any attacks on Democrats, including the murder of Melissa Hartman just a few months ago. I should perhaps make it clear that I am opposed to any political violence be it from the right or left, but the double standards are quite vomit inducing.

Can’t see a lot of hope for the US, the country is so polarised it’s unreal. I also can’t believe that there aren’t more anti Trump demonstrations up and down the country, with him sending troops into blue states, trying to rewrite US history, ICE deportations, trying to deflect his involvement with Epstein, Kennedy Jrn creating chaos as Secretary of Health. The list is endless and still another 3 + years of this shitshow.
