She is not going to have clean hands, as far as being a prosecutor is concerned. Since the US justice system is fatally flawed and serious miscarriages of justice are commonplace, anyone working within that system for any length of time is going to be tainted in some way. However, she is running against Trump and who could more tainted than him right! She has the ammunition, just hope she has the ability to really go after him.

I see those opinion polls are narrowing now. Republicans continuing to use their racist dog whistle of choice DEI, will just pee off many independents. I suspect that rhetoric will ramp up in the coming weeks, as they just can’t help themselves.

Not surprisingly, when particular police forces like the Met or West Mercia for example have received fairly recent damning independent reports of institutional misogyny and racism, it is going to negatively impact on the public’s perception of trust and fairness in policing in general. That’s human nature. The police in being more open and transparent and proactive in weeding out those unfit officers, need to somehow turn that perception around.

So yet another unlawful shooting (in other words murder) by a trigger happy cop, who clearly shouldn’t have been anywhere near being employed by law enforcement. As a person of colour, I am extremely relieved that police do not routinely carry firearms over here.

Spain were the stand out team throughout the tournament, but who is going to remember anyone else. Certainly not the other big nations like France, Germany, Portugal, The Netherlands, Italy or England. To say the overall standard was mediocre is an understatement. How much of that was down to the coaching, or a genuine lack of world- class talent.

I can’t see this as being the last attempt on Trump’s life. Since he’s very much against gun control and defending their insane right to bear arms, he’s certainly stored up a fair bit of karma for himself.

Before Jan 6th I would have laughed it off. However, the project seems to advocate the unitary executive theory, which counters those checks and balances and argues that article 2 of the constitution allows the President to reshape and give the executive branch more power. Trump disavowing it tell’s it own story!

I think part of the problem is the long standing perception that Americans are quite parochial. There was a YouGov poll in 2021 that suggested that 38% of their citizens had never had a passport. Compare that to the 2021 census conducted here that stated 13.5% of the population did not have a passport. I appreciate that there are many social economic differences between the two countries, but the fact is millions of people in the US have never experienced any other culture but their own.

Minimum of 15 years for Gavin Plumb, think he got off lightly, with no pun intended. I am mystified how his weight is a mitigating factor, that’s problematic for him, but mitigation?

Just finished The Terror (season 1) absolutely riveting and beautifully acted television series. One of the best shows I’ve watched in years.

It should be obvious to most that Biden is too old to run again and his mental acuity has declined markedly in the last four years. However, it is interesting that mainstream media largely ignores Trump's similar cognitive struggles. It is not just his usual rambling bulls*** about sharks etc, he actually glitches quite badly in most of his speeches ( so many on YouTube). He famously, when shown a photograph confused E Jean Carroll with his ex wife Marla Maples, when giving evidence at the civil trial. Imagine if that had been Biden. I hope Biden can be persuaded to step down, but it’s going to need a lot more democrats to come forward.
