The daft thing is, this has been coming.. even when we were in the dizzy heights of CL places two years running, we couldn’t halt the slump and we missed out… majority of fans on here would say just be grateful of EL football.. last season we may have had injuries but the style of negative football was truly terrible. Fans were literally yelling pass the ball forward during games such was the negative brand.. teams knew if they sat back, we couldn’t break them down.. The negative football has continued this season and we find ourselves where we are now… it was coming..

He has a way of playing.. Has a lack of awareness… doubt than can be installed in him

If you have watched Evans for the time he has been with us, that’s what he does.. he’s not a ball playing CB, never has been.. his reading of the game, positioning and out and out defending in Thursday night meant in my eyes, he was out MOM

Certainly wasn’t our best player… Evans stood out by far.. I think it’s because as fans we want him to do well that our judgment is clouded 3 key chances that Man Utd had, he was missing…. Edge of the box for Eriksen chance early on.. Then didn’t track Bruno wide right for the goal… and although this is indirectly, the Ronaldo scissor kick , watch Soumare be miles away from the action and only when he thinks Ronaldo is going to possibly play it back to the edge of the box does Soumare react..

Taking everything on board there.. we haven’t been allowed to see his carries upfield though because he’s having to sit in midfield.. atm we are asking him to play a role that doesn’t suit and one that his lack of awareness means it’s a big weakness.. I wish BR would play our players in their given positions… Maddison wide right, just blunts us even more… but that is another topic

In fact, watch the game back and ask where he was when Bruno pulled out to the right for the goal… By the time Soumare had reacted Bruno had already received and passed the ball into rashford lol… as said, absolute no awareness whatsoever …

You mentioned 2 players in Bruno and Eriksen… I didn’t… Soumare was wrong side pretty much each time Man Utd attacked first half..

Didn’t miss the point at all… you dont have to be world class at tracking a ‘run’ (a walk tbh) it’s just basic game awareness.. it’s called switching off, his movement was an after thought.. true he improved 2nd half, not so much his awareness but he put his foot in at times and carried the ball also..

These guys went making late lung bursting runs into the box that are hard to track… They were at times simply just walking into an available space with Soumare nowhere to be seen

It’s his lack of awareness that gets me , in what is such a key position on the pitch.. The first half hour, he marked space, and let players go past him on the edge of our own box.. Thankfully Man Utd didnt exploit that, there will be far better teams that do though..

I was really worried in the first half hour… watch it back closely, he was the Soumare of last season… didnt spot danger or track men into the box and when he did decide to mark, he was wrong side. 2nd half he looked better but I would only be giving 6.5/10

And all the bollox of Maddison playing inside right etc… then 2nd half as an 8 hes a number 10 and one of the best in the country in that role… just play him there maybe ?

Absolute no balance at all… Felt for Justin on the right side but we see it time and time again where the FB receives the ball in our own half and has nothing in front of him.. so only option is sideways/backwards (where have we heard that before )

Cost us the goal tonight.. a risk/reward ball was on for Barnes.. we opted for relative safe passes but then still saw the ball in our net from 3 Man Utd passes later

Folks seems to think we will just play our way out of this slump.. this is not just this season… it goes way back…. The big picture is we’re in the shit.. The bigger picture is relegation means we’re doomed.. I wonder how many player contracts have relegation/wage clauses in them ?

18 months this has been going on for nearly.. have you seen our inept performances during that time? This was coming…

Totally agree…. Under Rodgers we have had Perez, Praet come in and fail also.. A RW was a must though this summer regardless of situation..
