  1. Also, Wellens might be back here soon as manager
  2. He was a centre half, on loan from Liverpool. Decent player at that level
  3. I actually liked Wellens. He was always willing to hold onto the ball for a bit longer, waiting for the right pass to, say, Andy King
  4. Albrighton, Fuchs, Okazaki......
  5. Eduoard's cameo against Bournemouth
  6. They could pick 11 15-year olds and play without that sponsor on the shirts
  7. The players and the clubs are paying massive amounts for something (contract negotiation) that the PFA will do for a relatively small fee.
  8. I am going to the game, travelling a long way to do so (calm down, I´m combining it with a visit to see family). At least this season there´s no tension about whether we might stay up. I thought we were down when we lost to Palace. I wonder what the audience does at the opera or ballet when the performance is poor. Do they sing "You don´t what you´re doing" at the conductor and "You´re not fit to wear the leotard" at the ballet dancers"?
  9. Is Ruud drinking 2 pints or has Rudkin gone to buy some crisps?
  10. They have tactics? There are 2 possibilites: 1. Some of the young players are better than the current first teamers but Ruud doesn´t want to "rush" them, which would be worrying. 2. The young players are worse than the current first teamers, which would be very worrying
  11. I´ve already booked my return trip to Mars in 2043, on Elon Musk´s SpaceX football special, for the inter-galactic (northern area) play-off 2nd leg
  12. Options 2 and 3 are basically the same as we will not be able to get rid of many high earners. We should sign several promising players from lower leagues to combine with home grown players and the senior players that stay. I hope that if things are not going well then the crowd doesn´t turn on the players, particularly the younger ones. I think the booing of Ayew and McAteer, among others, is disgraceful. Perhaps they are scapegoats and the fans are really booing the owners and the coaches and recruiters, but it doesn´t achieve anything.
  13. The players have been asking Vesty´s dog how to hold onto a lead. He (or is it a she?) told them not to worry about that as it would require them to score a goal
  14. Not really related, but what happened to Vicky the Vixen and Cousin Dennis? Did they run off together, leaving Filbert on his own?
  15. After the last relegation the club got some things right. They got a new manager in quickly and made several key signings (Mads, Winks, Coady - although he got injured pre-season) early on. Hopefully they can get it right again.
  16. Is it correct that at Leicester the players´ wages automatically fell by 50% after the last relegation and will that happen this time?
  17. I think the odds on that would be way above 5000-1
  18. It was December 1981, a snowy day at Oldham. Others were throwing snowballs so I joined in, missing their keeper by a couple of yards. Two of Lancashire´s finest escorted me out of the ground. Before the game we were outside the ground listening to Jim Melrose chatting to some Scottish pals. When one asked if he was playing, he replied "Am I ****". That was because, I think, it was the first time that Gary Lineker played down the middle. Before that he had always been on the right wing (insert obvious joke)
  19. I was there, in the leicester end. Yes, Derby and the police had the great idea of making it all ticket for us but not for the home fans. Result: as you say, it kicked off big time. I remember your scrap in the pop side! The cops had to separate about 50 of our lads and 50 of theirs in the Ley Stand. At the final whistle around 50 leicester fans who´d kept their mouths shut walked to our end. Apparently there was major trouble in the city before the game.
  20. It was Stockport - see my post on a later page
  21. It was Stockport. Strong winds and horizontal rain. Andy King (I think) scored early on and Chris O'Grady equalized. We may be playing them again next season
  22. At Barnsley I was also wearing jeans!
  23. Two games spring to mind: Barnsley away in APRIL 1983. It snowed and I was only wearing my tracksuit top and t-shirt Portsmouth away in the FA Cup in January 95, gale-force winds combined with a pre-match hail storm.
  24. Right. We´ll try for 20 minutes then give up.
