Ric Flair Live & Direct on BSLB Podcast

absolutely 100% spot on..!!!! So many of the academy coaches and staff retained their positions simply because of their gratitude and blind loyalty to JR because he wanted people "behind" him he could trust. Insecure people do NOT employ people who they fear may over-shadow them....and that's why the poor ones that remain speak so highly of Rudkin i witnessed a succession of great youth coaches at LCFC who worked at U9-U16 level, many of whom do NOT speak well of Rudkin....but i never saw a single good one between U16 to U23 as they were the prime jobs reserved for Rudkins mates (ie beaglehole, Peake. Petty, Goodwin, Tucker etc...!) Guy Branston also coached my nephew for a while and he was very popular with the kids and the parents....but he is another who is simply indebted to Rudkin for his start in football and cannot afford to speak out of line in view of his new career as an agent. My nephews agent at that time was highly respected in Football and he thought Rudkin was a complete w**ker.....but he would never of course say so publicly as it could have been potentially detremental to any future contract/transfer dealings. And one final question i would have put to Guy Branston if he thinks Rudkin is such a great DoF and the supporters have no clue about how good he is..... "If the difference between the EPL and The Championship is as big as you say it is (which i agree it probably is!), then How the F**K did we manage to get relegated in 2022/23 ahead of the newly promoted teams (Fulham, Bournemouth & Forest) when we were an established PL club and they were trying to bridge such a massive gap...???" if the gap is as big as he thinks and that's his excuse for us struggling this season, then how come none of those three clubs promoted in 2022/23 have been relegated yet our outstanding DoF has overseen 2 relegations in 3 seasons? -
It was...you were right. Evident by the delay in the applause which was purely an appreciation for him not celebrating in any way

Development/Youth Squads 2024/2025 Thread - U18/U21

Maybe just a timing issue...?or maybe we just became a bigger draw post PL title success? Either way, it doesn't always translate into them making the grade professionally . in my nephews age group several years ago at LCFC, they had 8 players who had played at U16 international age group levels.....NONE of them made it into a PL team and only 2 of them still play professionally to my knowledge, although i suspect a few more may have made it with better coaching and pathway development at U18 and U23 level -
maybe, but marginal gains are not going to solve this mess for us now....it goes way deeper than that! Personally, im not convinced even Slot, Klopp or Guardiola could do much with this group of players right now.
-
but who decided/recommended to appoint them....and all the others that we're probably still paying off? Doesn't matter which way you slice & dice this complete s**t show of an equation, it still all comes back to the same person.....and do we really still want him in charge of the next re-build that is going to have to happen over the next 2 years? We are in a lot of financial trouble right now with an over-paid and ageing squad, minimal re-sale value....and the need to buy fresh blood to strengthen and re-build our squad for next season. this is going to need some "seriously" good wheeling and dealing from hereon to try and sort out this mess that's been created and we cant afford to get it wrong AGAIN so i am genuinely concerned that the owner is going to leave the responsibility of that rebuild with the same guy that has largely got us into this mess in the first place......RUDKIN Definition of madness? "Keep doing the same thing the same way and expect to get different results...!"

The definitive list of King Power / John Rudkin c**k ups.

I can confirm this. he also failed to announce over 30 goals we scored at home that season that were not reflected in the scoreline as a result of him not announcing them with the outcome being we lost games we actually won and ended up getting relegated as a result. All of this was accurately documented in the end-of-season root and branch internal review into the mis-management of our disastrous relegation season that was NEVER published but for which Brad quite rightly carried the can. -
Have they ever released any figures on Sales of these items...?? Curious to know how "successful" these were as dont recall ever seeing any of these beauties in the pubs and clubs of leicester..?!?
-
you mean "Wonnie Pickerwin...?"
-
probably because we dont have any money to spend.......everyone is always skint after christmas!
-
Exactly right. But unfortunately, its part of human psychology Surrounding yourself with good people, listening to them, giving them freedom to challenge and empowering them is a huge part of any success.....but its not what insecure people do The collapse of Lehman Bros bank is a very infamous case study of a meglomaniac leader who surrounded himself with very good people but then instilled a sense of fear in them so they refrained from challenging bad decisions for fear of losing their well paid jobs which ultimately resulted in his disastrous leadership decisions never being challenged....and the spectacular collapse of the bank as a result of those disastrous decisions.
-
Exactly the same for me!
-
Those who know him will tell you that Rudkin is a very manipulative and calculating person who has reached the levels he has by throwing a lot of other people under the bus. Personally, i suspect he has always been insecure in his role as DoF as a result of not having the experience or CV to fit the role and it was purely a result of "timing" and his relationship with KV and Top that elevated him to the role of DoF in the first place In business (as in life!), the reality is that Insecure people will rarely surround themselves with good people as they will always perceive that as a threat. Insecure people tend to surround themselves with "yes" people who aren't necessarily capable of giving the best advice, but will always be loyal to them.....hence why so many bad decisions get approved and not properly challenged.

Are you referring to the fans or Rudkin with this comment as we have had 7 managers in the past 7 seasons (excl Smith), and 5 of them have been sacked....so far! For too long, supporters have looked to the managers as the scapegoats and Cooper was definitely the victim of this mentality and yet evidence suggests that changing the manager has rarely improved our situation. Maresca was the only manager who left on his own accord but he succeeded in the Championship and not the PL. The other 5 were sacked by the same people that appointed them and RVN s record so far does not indicate he will be the answer to our problems either (1/9 win ratio having Lost the last 7 consecutive games!) More tellingly, the only constant through this period of failure has been the Owner and senior management who oversee these managerial changes. And yet, none of them have ever been sacked or accepted ownership for these failings. Its always been the manager that gets the blame (scapegoat???)....the same managers that they themselves appoint. We were promised a thorough and in-depth review of all operations after the disaster of the relegation season....and yet again, we heard nothing, nothing changed, no-one was fired and the same people are still in charge of making the decisions that continue to have disastrous consequences. And yet, the club continues to point the finger of blame at under-performing managers????? Consider this... We are one of only 2 clubs in PL history to have ever won the PL title and then been subsequently relegated. Blackburns success was built purely on the back of Jack Walkers £millions and their demise was the result of a disastrous change of ownership when the money dried up. Our success was the complete opposite and was NOT bought in any way.....and we actually made £millions on the back of subsequent player sales. And yet, the money has still dried up...! We have received transfer revenue in excess of £500m in the past 8 seasons yet we have no money left to spend on player recruitment due to some disastrous signings, player wages being significantly over-inflated Vs performance and long-term contracts being awarded to under-performing and ageing players who we are now unable to move on because other clubs wont match those wages. And in the midst of all that, we had 3 players who cost us a combined spend of £100m leaving us on FREE transfers because we allowed them to run down their contracts (Tielmans, Soyuncu, Perez) And yet....we faced a points deduction for breaching PL PSR financial rules which we only narrowly avoided purely on a technicality And Yet.....despite all this EVIDENCE, you still think its the fans that are looking scapegoats? Im not sure its the fans that are looking for a scapegoat. I think the scapegoats have always been the managers and the real issue has gone unresolved for far too long. Quite simply, we have an under-qualified DoF who would probably have never got the job in the first place at any other PL club and will almost certainly never get another job at a similar level at any another PL football club......and who would have been fired long before now if he worked in private industry and overseen the results that he has in the past 7 years.
-
Thats why he gets paid a lot of money! As a previous poster said, if he had been a director of a PLC overseeing such a calamitous period of performance in terms of results an financially, he would have been long gone by now
-
My own personal experience of that was absolutely NOT the case...and the Agent in question was one of the TOP agents in UK football!
-
That would be so brilliant .....if it wasnt so tragically spot-on!
-
He can kick a football....he can kick it a very long way. But sadly, thats all that Beaglehole and the GK coaches ever coached him to do in the 3 years they were coaching him as thats ALL that Hoofball- Beaglehole ever wanted him to do...!
-
This is not really relevant to the whole point of Wards competence/incompetence but......i very much doubt he would be keeping that much money in the bank? Why would anyone just have £3-5m sitting in a bank account gaining very little interest? if hes got even an ounce of sense, he will almost certainly have invested it in rental properties etc that will already have secured him a comfortable income for the rest of his life when he retires. Just like harvey Barnes has already done and just like Harveys dad did before him on lower league wages!. make NO mistake, unless Ward has got a serious gambling/cocaine habit that he has been funding or hes an absolute idiot.....Danny Ward will already be financially secure for life as would anyone with £3-5m to invest in rental property! Anyhow, none of that answers the question of how shit he is and whether he increases our chances of staying in the PL with him between the sticks...?
-
Not quite sure whether to laugh or cry at that...?!? I hear exactly what you're saying and i dont disagree with you at all BUT.....if we're prepared to excuse our defence for being s**t, then why is everyone getting so hung up about our keeper being s**t as well...?? Bit like NOT blaming Prince Andrew for being a NONCE just because there are even bigger Nonces out there...! (PS I dont like to worry you BUT.......im not sure how much longer Hermansen is going to be with us as that boy is Quality? What then...?!? )
-
Thats a fair point....but as i said, West Ham and Brighton could/should easily have scored 4 or more against us and the reason they didn't was NOT because of our own great defending.....it was more to do with their own dreadful finishing in front of goal!! On Saturday, it was the same defenders just different opposition......and Newcastle didnt make the same mistakes that WHU and BHA did! I have NO issue with anyone who wants to blame Ward.....but if you think Ward is the problem and that by fixing that we'll be OK then i dont think it will be long before you're looking for someone else to blame.....thats all im saying!
-
there aren't many GKs in the world that would keep a clean sheet with our defence in the PL...!
-
I have no wish to disagree with anyone who thinks ward is shit as im not really in a position to comment as i havent seen enough of him to pass comment. What i can say is that ANYONE who thinks the 2nd and 3rd goals we conceded on Saturday were any fault of Danny Ward and not the Sunday League Pub standard defending in front of him is absolutely deluded...! I dont think it would have mattered who we had in goal for the 2nd half on Saturday.....it was the defending that cost us and NOT the goalkeeper. We could/should easily have conceded 4 against both West Ham and Brighton if it wasn't for their players not having a clue where the goal was (or Harmensen being the outstanding GK that he is!) so while WARD may not be the answer to our problems....most of our problems will still definitely exist with or without Ward!
-
"Walking off when substituted" when we're 3-0 down...?!? Not sure id be classing that as a good thing, unless we were already in "damage limitation mode" at that stage...?!? I expect players to walk off slowly when they're substituted if we're 3-0 UP....not when we're 3-0 down.
-
I seem to recall there WAS allegedly going to be a full review after our relegation season debacle.....dont remember reading anything being said about it since or, more significantly, any notable changes in the senior hierarchy for those involved in all the decision making that led to such a dramatic decline. makes me question why you think JRs position would ever be under review if nothing ever happened after the s**t-show of our relegation fiasco...?!?

Local leicester boy... we released him age 14....signed for Burton for 3 years....next thing, he's signing for Chelsea at 17 and has thus far represented England at U17, U19 and U20 age groups. wonder how Burton/Chelsea managed to see his potential and develop him that quickly in 3 years when we deemed that he wouldn't make it at 14...?!? Interesting....as the reported fee Chelsea paid Burton for him will potentially reach >£1m with sell-on and add-on clauses....! No wonder we dont produce leicester born GKs through our academy system when we dont recognise potential when we see it...!
