  1. I was stood on the kop that day as id gone to watch with a few of my college mates from Liverpool We had just been beaten 3-1 by Exeter in midweek in the FA cup (replay?) and we were bottom of the league....and Liverpool were absolutely flying so no one gave us a chance went they went 1-0 up. We fought back to win 2-1 (pat Byrne and Jimmy melrose?) but what really sticks in my memory is the absolute pandemonium surrounding me on the Kop as time was running out and their long, long unbeaten home run was about to end They were genuinely getting hysterical and there were many in tears at the final whistle and then........ ....as the leicester players started walking off towards the tunnel from the far-end, the Kop began to applaud and the City players walked sheepishly down to the Kop end to take the huge applause looking genuinely bemused! Never seen that before in football at that time....genuinely choked me to be surrounded by scouse Koppites applauding the city players who were rock bottom of the league at that time....and against all the odds, had become the fist team to beat them at home in years!
  2. So did schmeichel and pearson.....and probably every other manager since i suspect
  3. Thats NOT what insecure people do in life/business....people who are insecure in their own ability and/or self-worth surround themselves with people who present NO threat or challenge to them. Ive said this several times over the years on this forum....during his academy director days, Rudkin surrounded himself with people who he knew would be beholden to him because they were "lucky" to be in their roles as a result of his loyalty to them (Beaglehole, Peake, Crawley etc...). Anyone who didnt show the same loyalty as his closest lieutenants were just disposed of or marginalised....irrespective of how good they were or whether they were right or not. No surprise to me that the same behavioural patterns have been repeated all the way through his journey to the top...!
  4. far from you defending Rudkin, Isnt this statement in itself the most damning indictment of all on the impact of his "achievements"...?!?
  5. Apparently, even Mandelson refuses to be associated with someone as dodgy as Rudkin.......!
  6. Great bit of research...! In fairness, id be tempted to add McGuire in to that list for some balance as we did recoup £70m on an initial outlay of £12m, although this did ultimately rise to £17m with the add-ons In terms of Financial return on investment, its the 2nd highest profit we've ever made on a cost Vs sale basis (Mahrez, Mcguire, Chilwell, Fofana, Barnes...) so credit where credits due to the post Pearson clowns...!
  7. Not really swings and roundabouts though is it...?? the point that screams out to me here (yet again!) is that in the Pearson/Walsh/Shakey era, our transfer dealings were the benchmark for other clubs to follow.....and now that its Rudkins responsibility without their experience, its been an absolute s**t-show.....a complete master-class in how NOT to operate in the transfer market with 4 of our top 6 highest signings leaving on FREE transfers. Its not really swings and round-abouts when you are comparing the results/achievements of different people.....Rudkin had very little involvement in the successful transfers you're focussing on Maybe that's one of the reasons people keep "laying-in" to our hopeless board...
  8. 100% this...!! Worrying to think you can get all this factual information in seconds just by asking a simple question in Gemini......yet the Owners of our football club are unable to see it (or choose not to?) I dont know how/why they cant (wont?) see it but Rudkin would have been fired years ago if he worked at that level in a PLC with such a catalogue of failures behind him.... in fact, in reality, he probably wouldnt have even made it to that level in the first place which is probably the most damning indictment of all. Over-promoted + Over-protected = Recipe for repeated failure. How many more managerial appointments are we going to let him oversee before we realise its the person appointing those managers and buying/selling the players thats the real issue.....and nothing will change until that changes!
  9. same source who said fatawu might be off to bournemouth.....Not a source i would put my life on but somehow, someone who seems to know a few things that go on.
  10. Rumour has it that he might be off to Newcastle......but maybe its just a rumour???
  11. Johansson didnt come through our academy....he was recruited by Ben Petty from Aston Villa as a 19 year old....same as Iversen was signed as a 19 year old danish youth international. Bit like claiming Bellingham was a product of Dortmunds academy.
  12. Why....WTF have they done to deserve him...?!?
  13. this is beyond parody now....a CV that wouldnt even be entertained for any position of this seniority in the "real world" I originally proposed Alan Partridge for the post....seems i was aiming a bit too high and being a little ambitious!
  14. Probably the most balanced assessment ive read this far. We're certainly not playing well or looking like a force to be reckoned with but then again, with the exceptions of Coventry and Middlesboro, i cant see any other stand-outs who i would bet my house on finishing Top6 as everyone else is equally inconsistent and Millwall generally fade at some point in the season. I think that even if we carry on playing as we are, we'll probably finish mid-table at worst as there are some teams in this division that are so poor that i doubt that even we could lose to them....but then again, i wouldnt bet my house on that either. Personally, disregarding all the knee-jerk reactions, i would still be quite surprised if we didn't finish in the Top6. Not because we are that good.....but purely because the rest are that bad!!
  15. And how is that going so far...? A succession of failed managerial appointments, 2 relegations from a Champions league qualification place 2 years earlier, poor recruitment, players leaving on free transfers, an over-inflated wage bill, year-on year losses and the resignation of the CEO...! I live in hope....but it appears the owner(s) cant see what everyone else can see and its probably only a change of ownership that's going to address/change what's fundamentally wrong with the club
  16. im not hoping someone else goes in to bat for me. Everyone is free to make their own decisions....and ive decided not to bat anymore while Rudkins pockets are still being lined.
  17. Or do what Sheff Wed fans did last bight and boycott the game.....nothing would send a clearer and more uncomfortable picture to the Owner and his cronies than a half empty KP stadium, even if it was for only one game. Ive said it before on here (& got shouted down by a few!)....i will never pay to attend another game at King Power while my money is lining Jon Rudkins pockets..
  18. your basing that opinion on where he is today as against where he was when he was 16. If you had ever seen him play when he was younger, you too would be questioning what went wrong as im pretty sure his ambitions and motivation today are nowhere near what they were when he was an aspiring 16 year old. Ive not met anyone yet who saw Ndukwu play as a youngster that didnt think he was the most talented player of is generation at Leicester. Barnes and Chilwells dads did everything they could to get their sons away from Beagleholes U23s set-up as quickly as they could....so what does that tell you about the coaches?
  19. Barnes dad was a personal friend of Rudkin from their playing days and he also shared the same agent as vardy so there were "doors" open to Barnes that were not necessarily open to others in the form of "opportunities" Nothing against Barnes as he is a fantastic lad with a great attitude and he did grasp those opportunities when they were given so fair play to him.....its just that others (based on ability!) were not necessarily given the same opportunities. My comment was not intending to say that Barnes was "undeserving"...far from it! Its just that some others were "equally" deserving (possibly more so in the case of Ndukwu??) but didn't get given the same opportunities. In the academy system, coaches are always very quick to place the blame on the player for their failure to develop....but you rarely (if ever?!?) hear the coaches accept any accountability for their own failure to develop players on account of their lack of coaching ability. I think its called "closed-loop thinking" in the business world in that if something fails, it has to be someone else's fault as it cant possibly be ours...!
  20. What about the towering 5ft 6 stevie "donnaruma" lynex....?!?
  21. The issue with these two was that they didnt fit the Beaglehole mould at that time of physicality and hoofball. Connor Tee was a technically gifted player but not overly outstanding even in his own age group and his size was always going to be an issue, especially when he stepped up to U23s.....even without sgt-major Beaglehole choosing never to play him Ndukwu was a different story altogether and a far far better player than Barnes. He was widely regarded as one of the most naturally gifted players of his generation......he just needed better guidance and coaching and the LCFC Academy coaching staff at U23 level at that time were simply not good enough to develop naturally talented players as JR & Beaglehole were totally focussed on physicality, long-ball and not losing. I do often wonder how Ndukwu would have progressed at a more forward thinking academy with a record for developing technically gifted players? Sadly, I think for him it will always be a case of "wrong place at the wrong time"
  22. wait.....did i miss something?? did we win the FA Youth cup??? Genuinely havent seen that reported anywhere...
  23. McAteer was ridiculously good business....fair play to anyone getting that much money for him (have Ipswich got their own "Rudders" at the helm??) Hermandsen, Ndidi, BEK and Justin were good signings originally that we've got a good return on in financial/performance terms Alves on loan is good The rest......nothing to shout about there as we paid too much for them in the first place and they weren't good value for money so getting rid of them is simply rectifying a WRONG thats already proved too costly for us Not shifting Soumare, Daka, faes long before now and paying £20m for Skipp are major blotts on the ledger as far as im concerned
  24. Lol! No....i just think they would get bored for applauding me for doing something im supposed to be doing anyway.
