Didn't someone say it's Puel that wants this lad but the club aren't keen? If that's the case then maybe the compromise is they bring him in and a "big name" winger. That could explain why Gray has apparently been playing in a more central striking role in training. So we'd have 4 wingers (Albrighton, Diabate, this lad and "big name") Vardy/Iheanacho as main strikers, Maddison/Okazaki for no. 10 role and Gray as a utility player to cover any of the front 4. Just a thought!

Seems to me we've been hedging our bets with a number of potential targets but when it came to the crunch we've either made a half-hearted bid or withdrawn altogether - probably just means we are more serious about another target. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Just catching up on this evening's developments so putting 2 and 2 together with Geoff's cryptic comments on the Alireza thread do we think it's him?

Sounds like they are taking a big risk to me. Whilst I'm no Puel fan it sounds like they're already writing him off but who's to say a "big name" will be available if and when they decide to get rid and what message does it send to our best players if they pick up on the owners' ongoing lack of confidence, not backing him financially etc. It doesn't sound like they're exactly keeping their thoughts private and I could fully understand if the likes of Schmeichel, Vardy, Maguire etc decide they would be better off elsewhere.

Understand that we need to offload a few but would seem a bit odd if we didn't bring anyone in to replace Mahrez. Also seems strange the owners haven't acted to replace Puel if they aren't convinced - surely they are just delaying the inevitable?

I get the same "voice of doom" in my head occasionally then I remember we've got Maddison, Ndidi, Maguire, Silva, Pereira, Iheanacho and the majority of the team that won us the league just 2 years ago then I feel better!

So any idea who we are in for, wingers or otherwise?
