I see. There were still a few overhit ones that hit the heads of Leicester players
-
7 consecutive poor corners. They probably all count as chances created in the stats.
-
6 consecutive poor corners Come one Maddison. Give someone else a go.
-
As I have been saying, and many others like you have said, but it seems there are many here who thinks Madders’ corners are great. We should let Albrighton (when he is on) or Barnes take them.
-
How many lucky breaks do we need ...? We need to make a change. Bring Barnes on please.
-
Where are our fast counter attacks? We need something to change offensively. Needs Barnes and Albrington on for Maddison and Perez.
-
I am not sure Maddison is really playing that much out wide?
-
I think he sees Maddison as being too much of a dribbler and often delays that pass one or two seconds longer than he should (or underhits or overhits the pass). Sometimes he gets it right but his final ball still needs a lot of work and more consistency. I think Rodgers likes players such as Albrighton and Barnes more because they are more direct and simple. They try to make that killer pass when they can and therefore are more threatening. As we saw last season, Barnes for example was always on the verge of something exciting. Maddison is still young and can become a great player but he is more suited as a holding type player playing deeper for now while Tielemans and Barnes can play further forward. Ideally, I like to see Rodgers try this first: Vardy Perez (just behind Vardy but free to be second forward) Barnes and Albrighton (left and right wings) Tielemans (roaming down the middle behind Perez) Maddison/Praet/Ndidi/Hamza (prefer we try Hamza first) Chilwell, Evans, Cags and Pereira Schmeichel PS. I somehow see Barnes being dropped to the bench unfortunately.

I do wonder though, did Barnes play as a winger for WBA where he did so well? I thought he didnt and he played more down the middle. Has playing him out wide after he came back dragged him down?
-
I agree. Mahrez is a special player and one that is hard to replace for us. He is not Messi of course, but it is like Barca losing Messi one day and Barca manager saying that he cannot be replaced - that would not be strange at all. Maguire on the other hand is replaceable.
-
And we also have Barnes (and Ghezzal). Our reserves will be better than many lower table teams! I hope Barnes gets some decent minutes though as he is a real talent, and as many of us said last season, he gave us more buzz in many of the games he played in than Madders (who had a poor second half of season) - dont shoot me down for this but you can all check the forums from last season.
-
Yes, I was shocked ... 😱
-
I hope he can come in and play instead of Madders. Madders is good but not great. He can do with more competition. Madders is too wasteful with his corner and free kicks so it would also be good for others to take a turn (eg. Barnes and Albrighton).

It is really annoying that so called big clubs can just keep nabbing the best players from their competitors in the same league. Develop and find your own players! It is really annoying also that our best players keep getting nabbed by the big clubs: Kante, Mahrez, etc. No wonder smaller clubs cannot compete. The FA should consider some transfer rules against this and apply a special tax on top of transfer fees to discourage this for the good of the game. Having said this, if they want our best players, then they well need to pay a premium! In this regard, I am happy that we got £80mil for Maguire - an above average defender at best. ?

Thanks to Puel ... he kept saying he was training Vards different things, eg. movement around the box, to keep him going playing at the highest level for a few more years. Puel was actually a great coach and a great football scout. He just wasnt as good in terms of man management and his English. Poor guy.

Albrighton did start but it was probably also just to give him a game or two to see what he can do at the end of the season. Wouldnt think that meant necessarily Rodgers like him over Barnes. Dare I say though, but I wouldnt mind dropping Maddison instead of Barnes for Albrighton? Barnes did better than Maddison in the championship and I think many of us did not think Maddison played all that well last season (I recall there was a lot whinging towards him in the second part of the season), despite the media kept quoting stats that he was one of the most creative? Maddison should not be considered a must on our team sheet. Tielemans did make him look better and he did score a goal or two from free kicks but he takes all our free kicks (and corners) and most of them were pretty poor. Barnes takes corners for WBA and if you followed him back then they were of better quality than Maddison’s! And by the way, this is why Southgate dropped Maddison from the senior squad! He saw how bad he was second half of last season!

He definitely has that extra bit of edge that separates good PL players from worldclass players. I think he definitely could be a worldclass player - he just needs a season or two more. I think he is a bit Salah-like to be honest. I wouldnt want to downgrade Albrighton though. He does not do the fancy dribbling but his first time passing is superb and this single element of his game is I think of top PL quality - not worldclass, but the only player (apart from Fuchs who will not play much) who can do that 50 yards pass that can unleash Vardy and Perez in a flash. We need that kind of element in our game to keep our opponents guessing. If our whole team is full of Maddisons - the dribbling taking his time with possesson type of players (which you still need) - our game would become too predictable.
-
A great team indeed, but I would think we need to fit in Albrighton in there. He brings something else the rest does not - that quick cross field long ball up to one of the front three. I may even drop Ndidi or Maddison (depending on the opponent) for Albrighton.
-
I would love to see that. Where then would be Maddison and Tielemans? I also would want to see Albrighton too. How about? Vardy/Perez Barnes/Tielemans/Albrighton Ndidi (or Hamza or Maddison) Chilwell/Evans/Maguire (or Soyuncu)/Ricardo
-
So you do not think Soyuncu is good enough? What about Benkovic? I guess my question is do we really need to pay 40mil for Dunk if we sell Maguire?
-
He is overrated. His defending and positioning was suspect at times - we all said that last year. He can bring the ball out but so can Söyüncü. Söyüncü showed gimpses of that in the few games he played. It would be good to keep Maguire of course. He is still top class, but his value is likely going to go down when the hype around him dies down a bit when people outside of Leicester realise that his defending is suspect. And if we do sell, I dont think we need to buy. Instead I really would want to see Evans and Söyüncü. Why spend close to 20mil to leave in the reserves?

We all know we have a great young talent in Barnes. He obviously did very well with WBA last season where he was given more freedom down the middle. Where should he play this season? Still as a winger on the left? I am not sure that is where it most suit him. With the signing of Perez, Tielemans and possibly another “first choice” winger, would his development be hampered this year? Does Rodgers rate him? To me he is an even bigger talent than Maddison. His stats were much better than those of Maddison in the Championship. Maddison obviously had a head start over Barnes by half a season, but Barnes looks more dangerous going forward and his set pieces are actually better. Could he even play in Maddison’s position? I really think Barnes could be a big superstar and I hope Rodgers sees that. Your thoughts?
-
No he didnt ... not until very recently after seeing a lack of real interest despite talk in the press.
