Agree. He did not want to commit at the end of the season and kept his options opened. Despite spending a club record fee, the club could only get him to sign for 4 years instead of the usual 5 that we prefer for good young players. It shows that his mind is just to play here for 2 seasons max and then we will have to convince him to stay again. I feel for Silva though. Why is Rogers not even interested in wanting to see him at training? Also, I would be keen to see Diabete back this season. I thought he has potential.

I think this is a really good sqaud!

If Harry goes, why do we need to pay £40 mil or any amount for a “replacement”? We already bought two decent CBs last summer plus we have Evans and Morgan still. Save the money for a creative midfielder (besides Tielemans) - I am still not convinced Maddison is it. Or a really good DM who is as good as Ndidi in tackling but can make a pass or hold the ball up - eg. Kante!
-
Yep, and also Ricardo - dare I say the best RB in the PL if he sticks around!
-
Hopefully the Roger signings will turn out to be as good as the Puel signings. Let’s not forget it was Puel who signed Maguire (now subject of £70m bid), Tielemans (our supposedly macquee signing if it gets through), Maddison etc. Puel inherited Musa, Silva and Slimani. If you ask me, Puel did very very well with his signings!

I guess he is a replacement for Okazaki who sat on the bench a lot last year? I would hate to see Albrighton dropped for him.
-
It is reasonable we demand so much for him. If the rich club wants to cheat by buying their competitors’ best players, then they need to pay a premium. Simple.
-
Could have gotten Tielemans for a lot less than 40mil if some twat in the media did not speculate that he is valued at 40mils months ago and all commentators who are paid to look knowledgeable repeated the same. I still remember Gary Neville saying on one show early on that “it has been reported that” Tielemans was worth around 40mil. Monaco didnt want him - they would have been happy with a lot less.

It would be great to have him in the squad this year. He is only young and has been unfortunate with having to play in a few different positions and injuries. He should be a useful squad member who wont complain being so this year. He is obviously an intelligent football player, reads the game well, and just need to get a few games under his belt. I agree with many of you though that he is good across a number of positions but not the best we have in any. He is closest to Hamza but Hamza is a better passer. He can also play CB but is not as solid as Evans (I think he is better than Maguire defensively).

Villa has done extremely poorly over management of their signings and transfers in the past decade. I still remember clearly that Albrighton was highly highly rated by Villa coaching staff and the fans, and he had a really good season despite the team playing poorly. He was one of their brightest stars. Then a new manager came in and didnt see him in the plan and he was released on a free. Unbelievable really.

No. We should never question or boo Vardy, even if one day he becomes that. Sorry, just no way.

I think he has the technical abilities to be a great player, but he is far from the finished product. Things to work on: - stay on feet more (he slips too often) - be more consistent with freekicks and corners: too often he can’t even clear the first man and his corners to be honest are usually crap (but he can do much better) - pass better and earlier (he needs to learn from Albrighton) - put more weight behind his through balls (he can make the right pass, but his through balls are usually underweight) - he needs to work on his power (maybe this explains why he often under-hits - he needs to make better decisions (he is way better than Gray, but again he can learn from Albrighton)

Indeed it was a good lesson for the team. I think the players did well, but hats off to Guadiola, his tactics were far superior compared to Rogers’. He saw that we wanted to play from the back and were using Schmichel a lot, but Schmichel was a weakness and Ndidi and Hamza were not good enough to rescue the back four with good positioning to receive a pass and go forward. When pressured, he saw that Ndidi and Hamza would pass backwards and ultimately to Schmichel who had no choice but to pump it upfield. I mean, if we have to just pump it upfield, I rather Albrighton do this (or indeed any other player but Kasper). As a result, Guadiola pushed his team higher and higher up the pitch because he knew that 95% of the time we would pass backwards and the risk of a counter was negligible. This constant press high up field meant that we were not able to even get past our own half. Rogers should have dealt with this by changing tactics as I said during the game - including to drop Maddison deeper to help rescue the back four but also to have more forwards upfield so Guadiola could not press as high to reduce risk of a counter. Outplayed on tactics. Guadiola 1 - Rogers 0

Nacho should have let the ball run to his right foot before striking it with that right foot. The keeper had the left covered and so the only way around the keeper was out of bounds - exactly as he did. Should have been more aware where the goal was. Vardy would not have missed.
-
I missed that. Any clip
-
Thoroughly outplayed. Poor set up. No attacking intent until late. Rogers should have made the changes at half time when it was clear we could not even get out of our half. We were never going to be able to hang on.
-
Stop passing backwards. It always end up in a long ball anyway. Might as well go forward.
-
Stop playing Puel ball. Hit it forward.
-
Something needs to change. Pass it upfield for a start.
-
Unless something changes, Man City is looking increasingly like getting a goal soon. We need to press higher and I feel like we need Barnes but I wouldnt know who to take off.

Fully agree. Such investigations can also be counterproductive. No one will say anything anymore, bottle it all inside, and no one can help educate them. None of us are perfect, but we learn through life lessons as we grow old. Kids should be allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. He apologised and we should all move on. But the person who received the complaint at the FA cares more about his/her job and not be scrutinised for not following protocols - standing in the way of common sense. Applying the same standards to politicians, it means we will never elect someone who has genuinely given life a go, made mistakes and therefore experienced and wiser, to lead us. We will instead elect bookworms who have never taken any risk in life.

Fully agree. There cannot ever be phasing out of the values that Vardy represents at Leicester City FC. They are amongst others values of loyalty, family, determination and hard work. They need to be celebrated constantly. At no point in time would I want to see fans here talk about phasing out Vardy because he is getting old and not banging in goals as frequently as fans like, because it would also mean phasing out of the much more important values that he represent and which we as a football club need to keep in order to generate the sort of spirit and family atmosphere that the club has.

Good to see Hamza making an appearance last game. But it seems from the latest comments from Rogers that he will need to wait for a while for a more established role under Rogers, especially with Ndidi and Tielemans playing so well (I still think Hamza would combine better with Tielemans and Maddison in the middle especially attacking-wise). Do you think he has been rather unlucky? It seems that he was just starting to get more game time under Puel (same as Mendy), then unluckily just before Rogers got appointed, he was left out of squad. When Rogers took over, it seems he wanted status quo first (I think he would have picked Mendy instead of Ndidi therefore if Mendy did not get injured and was replaced by Ndidi during the last (or second last) game Puel was in charge). So would Hamza have gotten more game time under Rogers had he been in squad just when Rogers took over? Seems like a steep hill now for him to climb whilst others have had the advantage of being able to showcase their talents during actual games and they obviously took it with both hands.

Talking about mistakes ... let’s talk about MacGuire first ... he averages one or two a game minimum and often has to do last ditch tackles to correct his own mistakes or being out of position.
-
As one of his biggest critics in the past, I have to agree. His tackling is much more important now. He commits less fouls. He still cannot shoot or control the ball well, but Rogers is having more support around him especially with Tielemans so that Ndidi can get rid of the ball more effectively. What really frustrated me before was how Puel was not using him properly and having a system that exposed his weaknesses significantly and dragging the rest of the team down. (See previous posts) As StriderHirya said, what is important is the few seconds after a dispossession and we (including Ndidi) are playing that much better now - still can be improved and can cut out some indecisions and backpasses that some players have shown (eg. Chilwell and even Maddison at times).
