  1. He's dead you know. An improvement perhaps?
  2. No no no no no. Good god man, what ARE you thinking. We NEED a talisman marque signing to replace (got it REPLACE) our sweet prince. Nothing short of that will do*. We'll have none of your 'perspective' type stuff around here. Sheesh, whatever next? *Or perhaps Andros Townsend and one of those net type bags what you put footballs in, that might work.
  3. He's worth 120. Anyone that says otherwise can do one. If we don't get it then Mahrez can do one too. Make him clean out jock straps until he learns his place, traitor... 'cause I talk tough I do. Especially on forums.
  4. Indeed. If that is the effect of FFP then we'll not be in a great bargaining position when it comes to selling. Then again, maybe we won't care and be quite happy to take a couple of footballs for Musa.
  5. That'll be about the only context where 'Kane' and 'deep' can be used in the same sentence!
  6. Dunno, but there's plenty of Herberts out there at the moment ?
  7. Okazaki. And, sadly, I reckon ever smiling Shinji is one that we'll look to move on... because he's probably one of the more fancied players amongst our surplus. I don't know what the FFP regs will mean for us but we can't just collect players. Maybe some will have to go to balance the books. If deadline days arrives we might find ourselves having a BOGOF sale - buy Shinji get Musa thrown in free.
  8. It'd be interesting to see how he responds if he doesn't get his move away. It's all well and good saying he's worth x, we ought play hardball, but if clubs aren't interested in paying that sum (and, let's face it, few would be) then we're running out of options. I've just read conjecture of Liverpool interest (should the Man City deal finally fall through) but I've not read of interest from elsewhere. We're seemingly not fighting them off - not even Everton and West Ham (that bit's irony by the way). And, tbh, I've taken that to mean that pretty much everyone considered Man City to be a done deal. But maybe it's not. Maybe there is no other interest (at the prices we're asking). Now what a shock that'd be, for supporters AND Mahrez! Maybe £40m to Everton (or whatever) is nearer reality than £120m to Barca (or whatever) I wonder how Mahrez would feel about his 'dream move' then. Would there be an airport lounge big enough to contain his disappointment?
  9. I had to have some work done under warranty (details in another thread). The original garage quoted £1200, replacing 4 different components, which the warranty company declined. The warranty company told me that some garages like to load the quote (particularly to warranty companies) just because, well, they can. The work was done at another garage for, I would guestimate, around £350 - £400. I had to pay £108 to the original garage for the problem diagnosis and a temporary fix, but that's another story. On a different issue, I had a loan car whilst mine was repaired - an Astra 1.6 SRi. I didn't like it at all. Sure, it worked just fine and in terms of performance was probably fine for many people (though I did find it a little flat, lacking pull above 60mph) but I really didn't get on with the car. It was like it was pretending to be a big car. I felt surrounded by it rather than in it. It just felt wrong. Point is, I guess, one of one man's meat. That is, as decent a car as the Astra arguably was, I just didn't click with it. Something quite undefinable in a way.
  10. Final update (I hope!) Picked up the repaired car on Saturday, it has a new DPF fitted as they couldn't do a forced regen. A new one was my preference, and I would have paid the difference for one, so that's a bonus for me. The dealer said the DPF fluid (EOLYS) had to be refilled to enable them to reset the ECU. That's not strictly true, it's the other way around - you do need to reset the ECU if you refill the EOLYS reservoir. As the ECU doesn't need to know the 'new-ness' of the DPF (the ECU measures the DPF state and does all its trickery with pressure sensors) no refill of EOLYS was necessary really. Consumable items (such as oil etc) are not covered by the warranty (I accept that 100% btw) and they wanted to charge me for 2 litres of EOLYS at £50 a litre (and they said that was the trade price) That stuff is expensive but not THAT expensive - and I knew that. Plus, the reservoir capacity on the car was only 1.8 litres - so there's no way they could have used 2 litres to top it up. I pondered a moment, thinking I'd already got a new DPF out of the deal so maybe I could just let it slide, but I queried it - said I was pretty sure you could get it for near on half that price - and asked them to check it for me. The dealer phones their parts supplier and they confirmed a price of £36 a litre... so we agreed on that. Turns out the garage the dealer uses was trying it on with them! It seems it's not the first time either (if conversations I overheard are to be believed). So, fair play to the warranty company and fair play to the dealer - cannot fault either. Fingers crossed that the garage (who have actually done the work) can be trusted. I'll find out in due course.
  11. Nah, that haircut looks well dodgy. Photoshoped I'd say.
  12. And we'll spend the rest of the window trying to offload some players! Expect to see Rudders et al at car boots, flea markets etc.
  13. Nah, but for being a big'ead you might
  14. If we've got Maddison and Roberts coming in (with Mahrez out) we've got the makings of a young and balanced squad. Any signings after that would be interesting. I guess it depends who we've got that can step up from the development squad, and who we off load.
  15. Point(s) of order; he's a tool perhaps but not a massive one, and he can be good to watch. I wish him well but I also wish this was over and he was gone (as I suspect Mahrez himself does)
  16. He wouldn't. And he'd show it.
  17. Fee agreed, Maddison to decide... he's going to Southampton... because it's nearer to Coventry. His passing's not much good either. KTI#.
  18. "As per others" ? Have we been offering £20m for other players then? Just in the hope that one of them might sign. :/
  19. It's a true work of art, a real gem. Beautiful to watch and full of emotion; heart touching/warming and humorous. One of my favourite films.
  20. I've got this lovely mental image of both clubs and Mahrez himself being quite chilled, paper work all prepped and ready for signing off. Fancy another Garibaldi Riyad? Don't mind if I do Rudders, cheers. How 'bout you Pep? ... as they all browse this thread pissing themselves laughing.
  21. It's one helluva question. Brexit is twisting and turning like the plot of a surreal thriller. Who knows where it'll go? It's near on impossible to predict the next turn let alone an outcome. There's a lot to get through in very little time, you just can't see how it's going to fly. If it wasn't so damned important then it'd be thrilling, but it's actually really quite worrying. I don't think there's a resolution that will keep the vast majority happy, really I don't.
  22. People saying 'tbf' having just said (or about to say) something that's anything but fair! Actually, it makes me laugh rather than irritates me. It seems akin to a vocal tic and can be ignored
  23. Oh shut up! We enjoy it!
  24. Yep, I don't disagree there! Laughably poor
