  1. Who sang 'My Way' at the end? She was great.
  2. 3 day weeks, power cuts and queuing for bread next
  3. Unofficial ' Caribbean Carnival' seems to be in the works which might tie up police if it goes ahead. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/urgent-bid-ban-unsafe-leicester-9455408
  4. This boat will be getting picked up by the UK coastguard if it keeps going on...
  5. Zidane taking fashion tips from Pearson... white trainers
  6. I thought London 2012 having the sailing events around the south coast was a bit far away but France have smashed that by having events in Tahiti
  7. There better be a decent fireworks display after all this
  8. Finally a decent song... and its by John Lennon
  9. Surely France have produced better music than this shite..
  10. It needs the atmosphere of being in a stadium with all the althletes gathering together in the middle... being so spread out and bobbing about in the Seine isn't cutting it... nice idea though
  11. Snoop Dogg is in town, time to bring him out to liven this up.
  12. Will they get the French President to parachute out of a helicopter with Inspector Clouseau I wonder. This isn't a patch on the 2012 Danny Boyle opening ceremony. Good that they've tried something different but its better in a stadium imo.
  13. A pub in Nottinghamshire has been named as the best hospitality business at the Leicestershire business awards 2024, the Stuart Broad co-owned pub Tap & Run in Upper Broughton... although to be fair the pub is literally metres from the Leicestershire border, and has an LE postcode and Melton phone number. It's the pub that burnt down a few years ago. https://www.meltontimes.co.uk/lifestyle/food-and-drink/top-local-award-for-village-pub-4714149
  14. Dentists are regulated and much more difficult to deal with I would assume. Businesses like barbers, car washes etc are easy to put cash through the till and launder any ill gotten gains.
  15. I'm about 10 mins walk from there. Been busy as well with the games they've shown so far. There's a bar as well
  16. Just caught up with The Streets set on iPlayer. Great performance from Skinner... Off to listen to Original Pirate Material now
  17. Kasabian playing the secret set this year

  19. Come to Melton on a weekday, loads of cattle trucks going in and out of the livestock market.
  20. Bit off topic but all this talk of Leeds and Yorkshire has reminded me of this classic Hale & Pace sketch...
  21. Doubt we'll need it but our massive GD compared to the next best one (+41, next best is +26 for Leeds as it stands) is an additional safety net should it be needed.
  22. The time when nuclear weapons were based in Leicestershire during the late 50s and early 60s. RAF Melton Mowbray hosted 3 flights of the Thor missile system as part of Project Emily. https://historyfare.co.uk/military-history/20-raf-melton-mowbray-nuclear-missile-base/ https://www.militaryhistories.co.uk/emily/base/melton RAF Melton Mowbray closed many years ago, now the Airfield industrial estate just to the south of the town. The runways made a good place to learn to drive back when I was learning in the early 90s.
