Russel is like one of those chaps who you think is sound, good hair, seems genuine, passionate, down to earth level headed kind of guy, but then he throws out an absolute stinker that pretty much erases all of those qualities. Blokes a space cadet.

To be honest. I can see Watson, Chaplin and Burns chipping in with goals. But, it’s a major risk relying on Bristric, especially if he struggles to adapt, because Cullen and Bobnaldo aren’t getting more than 15 goals.

Who will actually be the GK? I don’t know anything about this lad from Blackpool?

Evans needed a loan in my opinion. There’s a place for him in the club, hence the contract extension, but right now at 17/18 to go out and play men’s football regularly will do him the world of good, at a level that’s beneath him in my opinion. Right now we’ve got plenty of options, I’d rather Evans go out and play, than just sit on our bench…. Alves, Braybrook and JJ, have all benefitted from it. Evans time will come.

I hope so, We ideally want to be building a squad that’s capable of competing and potentially winning both divisions! Which I can see we are kind of doing, but there’s alot of work left to do, still with the likes of Faes, Okoli, Souttar, Skipp and Mavididi all allegedly leaving….. that’s a lot of players to replace….. granted I know now all of those will leave, but then we will be left with a miserable player claiming a half decent wage doing very little. All of that has a massive impact on the groups mentality!!

I knew full well they hadn’t played at this level for a decade, but to me there’s barely a difference between L1 L2 and the NL…. They’re all much of a muchness, it’s lower league football for which they’ve spent the majority of their existence playing at….. most teams are as bad as each other at this level hence why I don’t think there’s much of a difference between the leagues .

L1 and none league is all much of a muchness, I don’t think there’s much difference between the leagues at all, so they’re still better suited to understanding lower league football than we are…. We are still operating with the mentality of a of a premier league club. There’s still for me major red flags with this team, that put us at a massive disadvantage on a league like this, I question whether they have the right mentality and attitude to match the scrappy nature of this league.

Seasoned in terms of the club, as a collective they will understand this league and how to operate in it, and will do according to their status, budget and ability. We should win, we shouldn’t lose a single game. My expectations are we win this league at a canter, setting the highest points tally ever recorded at this level. That’s my expectation….. Im just not convinced this groups mentality has improved at all, this is nothing about ability, this is about mentality, and that’s what I’m not convinced has changed at all……

But this is league 1 and 2…. Turn overs of 12-13 players is normal, so it’s something they will be used to. Plus, they’re a seasoned lower league team, so the player profiles they will target, will be suited to their position and style. Whereas we still think we are a premier league team, and still place players playing for us who don’t want to be here…. So it’s unlikely we will shift into the competitive mentality, like last season. The hiring of Martin, just proves that mentality hasn’t shifted. Some are getting a bit giddy, but I can’t see any change at all….

I think they will just want it more. First home game in back league one, a recent PL champion on their arse…. I’ve seen enough in pre season to be worried, as Nigel F Pearson once said, “we’ve a soft underbelly” that still hasn’t been addressed, on paper it look like we’ve recruited fairly well for this level, but I’m not convinced at all. I don’t think we will do well at all this season, there’s a grit missing that you badly need at this level, we don’t play with enough conviction to make this style work, everything seems a bit lazy and laboured. We look a lot fitter though than we have recently, so that’s something, but I seriously worry about the resolve in this squad.
