He was 100% a cheat. But if you watch that performance back, in fact, every game from that World Cup, he was unplayable….. he was excellent in that game, completely ran the show, probably the only player who has ever dragged a team all the way through the World Cup….. it’s completely dishonest, but sometimes that what you need to win major tournaments…. Other than Spain, who just passed everyone to death, every World Cup winner had a nasty element to their game…… and, This morning for the first time ever in my life (that I can recall), England displayed that kind of trait, an gritty nasty edge that you need to win major tournaments.

Brazil were terrible. Had they progressed and England played like they did last night, it would have been a thrashing. Brazil can’t defend for toffee, and are overly reliant on Vini Jr. Norway will be a tough game, they’re well organised and obviously have Haaland. But the advantage is, he will come as no surprise to Englands defence.

I can just imagine what that phone call would have sounded like from Trump to the FIFA president.

I used to love England as a kid, always got a real buzz for the world cups and euros, but after the World Cup in 2010 I really lost interest in the national side, it was squad of players I felt you couldn’t connect with, from the manager to the players for me personally it all felt a bit disjointed. Then I actively disliked them, I couldn’t bring myself to support or follow other teams players… however, watching this mornings match, I genuinely got a bit into it, as I said, it was hard not to, the performance, effort, endeavour and quality was there for all to see…. That performance will resonate with a lot of fans in this country, as it had the very basics we all expect and more… and that’s a trait England have lacked for many years. This could be a group of players that gets everyone onside.

It will be a valuable experience though. They’re not going to get a more intense 90 minutes again I don’t think, so to come through that will do the group a lot of good.

His second goal however was probably the best solo goal in World Cup history…..

It’s a possibility we might. Mexico could co host with multiple nations outside of the USA itself. So, we might get the opportunity to experience it again.

Personal opinions aside, it can’t be denied how good the performance, tactics and result were last night. I mean, the performances haven’t been great in my opinion, up until last night, when it’s probably the best I’ve seen England play in my opinion. Not so much the quality of the opposition (Mexico are a good team), but a lot was made of the atmosphere and with good reason, it’s not an easy place to go and play and win like England did. No matter what your stance is on the national side, that can’t be denied.

The biggest plaudits have to go to Henderson, yellow card and stretchered off without playing a minute.

Thought Tuchel’s tactics and selections were spot on too. I really wasn’t sure about him, but yesterday under the first real bit of pressure he got it spot on.

I don’t think it was a penalty at all, Kane was looking at the ball, and trying to win it when it was 50/50, it’s not like he’s tried to tackle the lad and got it wrong.

Must admit, England were superb…. Rose to the occasion and managed to block out the bull shit….. World Cup games can often be chaotic, but England controlled the chaos brilliantly.

To a point you’re not wrong and I agree with some of your opinion, but being a league 1 club weakens our negotiation position, regardless of the fact this is the most expensive squad ever to be relegated. In fact, that makes our position even worse, because in order to sell unsaleable assets we’re going to have to accept ridiculously small fee’s for them. The likes of Faes and Winks will have to go for next to nothing… So, whereas I appreciate this is the most expensive squad ever to be in this league, and that is unusual, I personally think this further weakens our ability to negotiate the fees we want. Who even is our most valuable player? And what is their real time value? I would argue Bilal was, and he’s gone for probably the right fee in my opinion.

We’re in league 1? It doesn’t matter what Bilal has done, we’re a league one team and can’t command the type of fees we really want. £15m for Fatawu is going to be insane business for this level, and we all know that’s well below his actual value. Rudkin is a cůnt and always will be, but it’s the situation we’re in, it’s Top’s fault primarily, as he’s ****ing useless, but our league one status means weee a bargain bin. Bilal incidentally is class and will go on to be a top player.
