Millwall (A) - FA Cup - Match Thread

Lovely to see -
My mum is in an area of Lincs that could definitely be at risk, as the garden has flooded a few times in the last year. Though it does mostly seem to be because there's a manhole in the garden that gets blocked by crap. I've strongly suggested moving sooner rather than later.

Managed to get my car insurance for around £230 once I take into account cashback. I've done it reasonably early, though.
-
Car insurance renewal came through. Up 42% to £300. Pffffft. I'll do some shopping around.

It was ok. Nothing fantastic. The trick on Deborah Meaden was brilliant and she took it in good stride. But you could see Greg having to do a lot of the heavy lifting, in parts. I don't quite think anything, from the celebrity versions, tops Claudia Winkleman being absolutely useless with a pole or the discovery that Baroness Warsi is a lunatic.

If we could sign him fully and bring in another loan, that would be fantastic but don't we have to shift someone first?
-
I bet he's got a badass cousin

Huddersfield (H) 4-1 - New Years Day - Post-Match Thread

Still one of the best bands I've seen live! -
Even older than I thought then

If that's a reference to what I think it is, that's a blast from the past

I was in boxing day and it was quiet. I mean fair play really but the evidence suggests making a lifestyle change first, that you can handle, is best. If these people say "I'll go to the gym twice a week, do 20 mins jog and then 30 mins weights" that's way more manageable than "I'm going to absolutely smash it in 2024"

Been coming but I'd have taken a draw before the game

God I hope this all works well in the top flight

LCFC must offer General Sale to fans
fox_up_north replied to Union FS's topic in Leicester City Forum
There's a double edged sword for them. The future generation of fans are expected to engage on TV/ social media and be eyeballs for adverts. The problem with that is that players still need a crowd. Even if you pipe something in, you absolutely need something to fire you up and engage you. Every spectator event thrives on that. I'd say the only one that doesn't is motorsport but they need a focus because they're doing 200mph in a death trap. -
I hate to say it but if I had to choose Nottingham or Leicester, I'd choose the former. When I used to be a music journalist in my uni years, Nottingham was THE place to be. You had about 5 or so venues that regularly had good, known bands on. Leicester has just kind of let things slide. You've got the Irish bar left, that quasi Academy thing and maybe the Musician? That's about it. The city has never been a regular stop off for bands and it's kind of ridiculous, given the ideal geography.

As an addendum, if people on here are genuinely serious about making a change, it appears that a concerted plan of action with other club fan groups is needed. UFS/ the Trust need to link up with fans in similar situations from other clubs and put out a joint statement. Put pressure on the club. I'd even go so far as to say that perhaps they could refuse to sing during games. That would certainly get Enzo's attention, at least. -

Frankly, you don't. This is why they want the Super League money because they've kind of fuched it over here. There was a study that kids now engage with more football more through videogames and youtube clips than they do actually going to their local team. This is all an extension of "the brand". Interestingly, cost didn't seem to be an issue but that's because the vast majority of engagement came via watching games on TV/ online. Even young people think watching games live can be "old fashioned". The report does highlight that tag alongs and casual fans, combined, make up around 20-25% of a potential audience. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.ecaeurope.com/media/4802/eca-fan-of-the-future-defining-modern-football-fandom.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjJ16H7mqWDAxVqVUEAHbGOAO44ChAWegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw22TLBzmLUV8OhEh6SXTUEh -
We probably go to different gigs but post pandemic I've been to about a dozen gigs. Seen plenty of crowdsurfing, stage diving and general sweaty mayhem. It's not necessarily the world but the environment. It's why McDonald's play classical music in their shops now.

Serious question- what are we able to do about this? Can UFS and the Trust get together and request a meeting with this fan engagement guy? Can we maybe get an email campaign going to him? When are we next on telly? Could there be a protest outside the ground? -
Not sure I like this idea we'll make more use of him once we're promoted. That suggests that it's ok he doesn't play in the second tier but will be ready for the top, after a year of few minutes

Add that to Jake Humphrey's list of World Class Basics

I understand that. I dropped down to 74kg flat about 2 months ago, on the way to a 73kg target and am now back up to 75kg. However, my clothes still fit and I'm lifting bigger weights than before. I'm running faster and my heart is as healthy as it's been in years. I'm trying to tell myself this would happen with some personal stress and that the muscle will be growing.

Realistically, how would our lifestyles need to change, in the west (and heaviest users) to make sure everything doesn't go to pot?
-
Absolute load of bollocks. I'm in credit and I watch my spend. Yes, the house is cold but I adapt. Why should I then have to pay more? If other people get into debt, that's the supplier's issue - not mine. I'd happily pay a tax for UK owned energy, on the other hand, because at least it would be going in the UK's coffers. Ofgem (and Ofwat and all the others) are both spineless and toothless.

Looks like they've seen the backlash and read the room. However, small islands look buggered.
