  1. Nige waiting at the gate at East Mids airport. "Where do you think you're going? I've got a pack of wild Romanian wolves who know you'll make the right choice"
  2. But that inconveniences people
  3. To be fair, how many times have you heard the "please stay seated" announcement?
  4. What's laughable is they KNOW it's a finite resource anyway. So they have 3 options 1 - don't change and it runs out relatively quicky 2 - limit use/ ration it slowly and try to find ways to diversify 3 - actively move away from it and look to change quickly I genuinely wonder if they think it'll be always there. This is one of those things where your desire to have all the power and money is kind of a false economy because the thing you have power over will run out. On a base, human level, what do they actually think happens when they run out of the thing they control and people around start asking questions? People will just go "ah well you had a good run" and wander off?
  5. I came back from the loo hearing the Bamba chant and thinking what was going on. Then realised.
  6. I was adjacent to SK1 in east stand and the noise DID transfer a bit. To my mind, if the club genuinely want to improve things, stick another 2 or so singing sections around the ground. One in the opposite corner and maybe one in the East/West. Yes, you'll have different songs going at once but you'll have the noise. I did notice that after some of the quiet ones near me left around 80 mins, others got bolder singing as I took my voice up and shouted.
  7. I'd love one of those. Beautiful kit and beautiful moment.
  8. I think that's kind of the difference. For me to get homeless I'd have to Lose my job Lose the ability to work Not pay my mortgage or have help from family Not have any friends or family to stay with Not have any community connections to help To get to that point, you've either made a lot of mistakes or suffered a lot of misfortune. Anyone in that situation seemingly had a long road to get there and it wasn't just one thing that took them. I've worked with kids in care and youth homelessness is less of a surprise to me, as if they get kicked out of home or feel unsafe, they're younger and have fewer connections to use.
  9. For those that have had insulation done on an old house/ know someone who does / knows a firm - how the hell do you find people? I've searched google, checkatrade and a few others. Feels like everyone is either doing cavity wall or loft with no other options. I don't want to just get a plasterer in to whack some insulation up without a knowledge of U values and preventing damp.
  10. How big a difference did it make to the warmth? My house is almost directly north/ south facing. The rear of the house is like being in another season to the front, so I'm considering having the front 2 rooms given a layer of insulation. Is the cost of a few grand likely to be worth it in terms of warmth? I'm not bothered so much about the bills, more the fact it's bloody freezing no matter what!
  11. I'm in an 1890s end terrace. I do the same as you - put it on a bit to take the edge off but mostly just put under blankets.. I got solar last year and it meant that, after finally moving to Octopus SEG this summer, my energy "bill" for the months up to October averaged about £35 a month. I think insulation is the next on the list. The problem is that getting internal solid wall isn't cheap and finding companies who are reputable to do it, is even harder. I looked previously and managed to get ONE quote of £2400 per room.
  12. I absolutely agree the system takes time. No problems with that at all and I do believe you have to persevere, to an extent. However, the one thing you can't do is be complacent. If something isn't working, you change it. Whether that's in one game, one half or one month.
  13. That's been coming
  14. I've got the inevitable gizza stream post please
  15. I once visited an abandoned old RAF hospital with a mate. Lots of things played tricks on us, mostly our own fear. The truly frightening thing was the gypsies stealing lead.
  16. Dublin doesn't seem great right now
  17. I'm happy to be taxed, provided it's spent sensibly. If they wanted to take 25-30% of my income but, in return, I'd want to be able to see a doctor within a few days of needing it, see police officers actually being proactive against crime and able to use transport/ energy, without feeling gouged. What we currently have feels the worst of both
  18. Commit crime in Gotham and it's 2 mins to the M1 or East Mids airport.
  19. I'm on the flat rate export tariff with Octopus. Heard some horror stories of the variable.
  20. I think, regarding the disputed numbers, there's a tendency to see illnesses as islands. Although it may not have been Covid which delivered the final blow, it may have been the major contributing factor to their death. How often did we see people with AIDs die of pneumonia or similar? Can we really attribute all of it to pneumonia?
  21. Yes I think most refer to our 100 point promotion under Pearson. Which, again, was clarified. Some people are just salty, I guess.
  22. I see this has got other fans saying we cheated our way out of the championship. Again.
  23. I'm torn. On one hand I do think purchases now need to be with an eye to going up but it's also not a given we'll be promoted. Can't count our chickens yet.
  24. Falklands has always been a rallying cry for them and something to blame. Not that they've got the money to do anything about it but successive leaders have, at various points, tried to raise a grievance with the UN or go on the media trail.
  25. Looks like Argentina have elected another absolute nutter. This one thinks he talks to the ghost of his dog. Expect more grandstanding about the Falklands, soon.
