You are right mate. This is a nadir.

Ward looks very poor indeed. But we were in relegation form with Schmeichel last season when the excuse was injuries , now not applicable. Still in relegation form.
-
It doesn't work like you pay the whole contract up fron day 1. It'll depend on whether he takes a new job mitigating his position. Highly likely in 3 years.
-
Martinez , I bloody hope not.

I agree. But its been so f#cking painful these last 2 years. Take your money and good riddance. He's destroyed the good work he did. I can't remember another manager f#ck up as badly as he has. Obviously we scrutinise him more as fans but genuinely struggling to watch such a class A f#ck up. God its been trauma .

I expect a schooling tomorrow and lots of attention as a Spurs home match , late KO , bank holiday weekend will get a lot of media coverage and post match analysis. It will be uncomfortable for sure. At some point soon the owners will calculate the cost of relegation is greater than termination of Rodgers contract as for now I think they are hoping the problem goes away. I can't believe he can turn it around. He's actually been rubbish for far longer than this season. And morale seems much worse now and the competition stronger. It's a sad state of affairs. Survival will be a massive achievement this season.

It's almost impossible for a long winning run now. I don't think we have played like that for 2 years. Things have moved on. Why this ever happened in first place is getting harder to work out. He could make major improvements though so we gradually climb the table, if he completely changed his system, outlook, tactics etc. That seems unlikely. He'd 1) need to actually decide he wants to stay here and 2) be able to reset overnight . Really isn't going to happen in relentless time we live in and mule like stubbornness of the man. Remember we are playing equally desperate teams ( for the right reasons) this isn't football manager.

Tom, I was in agreement with you. I hadn't given it the thought you had as to WHY, but knew as an experienced football fan that Rodgers is far from what 'it says on the tin'. I was wary from the start and didn't want him. Just thought he was streaky manager who profited from months of 'friendlies' in covid and a time of relative weakness in Man U, Arsenal and Spurs and transitions for clubs like Newcastle, Brighton etc. He stayed at Celtic as quite frankly the SPL is no competition . I forget the dates but the only challenge Rangers were in decline for much of his time? The FA Cup win , well every few years you get an underdog in the final, and then it's just a one off game and on the day we hit a long ranger and hung on. Wigan. And they even get relegated same season. Stoke. Palace. Rodgers has been given far far far more time than he ever deserved. And now this situation has become a farce. I can't think of another instance where a managerial sacking has been called for and delayed this long. Its obviously about money. If they really don't have the money put him on gardening leave and let an internal leicester man run the club temporarily whilst it is sorted out.

He won't. The people running clubs are billionaires. They and their advisors are much smarter than Brendan Rodger. Hes just a bang average , gobby football coach, who talks a lot of crap, and half the time contradicts himself. Of course Rodgers will get jobs again, but unless he's able to really deliver over a sustained period, no big club will touch him. He's too risky.

Your right but not in the head

The way Rodgers uses the press is smart. I think he has someone in his entourage very savy advising him. Either that, or the guy is a lot more streetwise than most managers. For instance I don't think Parker was trying to get himself sacked. He's just a schmuck. If there really is a stand off and he's trying to get sacked/the club are hoping he walks, (meanwhile Rome burns), we should be employing really connected publicists to change the media agenda and give our side. From the subs, money wasted, tactics, morale, loss of key players, fans whatever. I mean it's the truth anyway. If the guy is really uncomfortable that he's losing his rep and looking like a fool, he will need to negotiate an exit. It can't take very long. Just a few 'leaks' . It must go on all the time at this level.

What was Fofana's comments about Coach about. Was it another dig at our glorious leader. Sorry if I've missed this. Busy day!

Max Demin dead right. Shut up and do your job.

Last season bottom 3 after 4 matches, Burnley Newcastle Norwich on 1,1 and 0 points respectively.
-
Audit his Internet history and expenses. Best way to get someone out for gross misconduct:)
-
It's odd as you can still get 4 to 1 on him being next to be sacked. That seems a great bet given the hopelessness of the situation. I submit that there can't have been a worse manager in the Premier league in the last 10 years, based on his CURRENT trend performance, assessed on all basis.

Probably need to speak to their lawyers.

One of those guys looking to get rich quick without doing any work.

Losing today has a silver lining. The managerial situation is becoming untenable. I hope he will go very soon now. I never wanted him. 1 or 2 more losses and he should be gone now. Brendan Rodgers is a fraud. Very incompetent guy stealing a handsome living. I know now he's probably doing things on purpose to speed up the bullet and a bumper pay off, but he wasn't for the best part of 2/3 of his reign. Its been mistake and poor judgement after mistake. That said I bet he gets one more fairly big job before the end of the year . A Villa or an Everton etc. Hopefully that's his last one, and his card is finally marked for what he is , a bull shit merchant incarnate. I don't normally wish bad feeling to people, but the man makes my skin crawl, he's absolutely oderous, I have utter contempt for him.
-
I've wanted him gone for like 18 months. I think most of knew deep down the guys a con man. I accept though we had to give him time due to having gone on some runs, fluked the cups and his big contract too. But no one can seriously say he can turn things around. He's been found out. Very flawed manager. And hopefully he will never get a big job again. This no signings is surely as the owners knew he was as good as a dead man walking and save for a miracle it would be better to keep the investment for the next guy.
-
I'm sure it has been made many times but couldn't see it, the no signings is because they wany to save the money for the new guy no?
-
It's got to be unlikely he will remain here the whole season. He's such a pillock. Last season my dislike of him increased to an irrational level , where I think it became unhealthy. I hope it doesn't this time.
-
I'm a bit anxious about the new season. Rodgers is no miracle worker and despite the little run at the end last year that got us 8th, you can see there are real issues, kasper off, league has got more competitive, no new players, others likely to go. Might do well just to survive. Oh well guess need some perspective.
-
If he got along that well with the bosses he wouldn't be communicating messages to the media in the way he does. I think he knows he is a dead man walking and is just feathering his nest, for the next job interview. Our big business owners are going to write him off. They are big businessmen and it's small change to them. Much cheaper than giving him £50 m plus to spend and the same to the next guy. Rodgers should come with a health warning for anyone considering him again. Very lucky guy.
