My perspective is that I enjoyed watching Leicester play football this pre season which is rare. Given what we've seen from this club you can't treat good performances as a given. There have been many times over the last few years when players of a similar experienced profile to Burn come in and they don't perform. I think when players are playing well we should value that rather than looking for ways to discount them. Our issue that when experienced players come in and don't perform we are told not to write them off and give them time but when academy players show a good level that's not enough.

We are in a lower league already though. League one is the typical destination for a category one academy such as ours to send their best graduates for a first loan. In terms of collapses we have seen many over the last few years despite having an experienced squad. If we start losing I would be surprised if Burns, Chaplin, Cullen are the ones to maintain a high standard. Last season it was Jordan James (21) and to a lesser extent Fatawu (21) who maintained their standards despite the struggles of the team. This season I would expect it to be Braybrooke to maintain standards through a rough patch of form due to what he showed at Newport. My point is that there isn't a clear correlation between age/experience and performing when the chips are down.

Otchere got 3 goals and 2 assists and that clearly didn't help him. If Otchere needed to work on his all round game then surely Carr's impressive all round game should be to his benefit. For me, if Wes Burns had played for us in pre season and played the same way Carr did, we would all be impressed and saying we had done a good piece of business. The difference is that Carr comes with the label of being "unproven" so we look at the performances with a different lens despite them being good enough if they came from an experienced player.

So you can't actually give a reason why I'm wrong just that I'm crazy for my opinion. I was called crazy for saying we should bin of Winks and Faes last summer, I was called crazy for calling out Cifuentes's approach to youth early on, I was called crazy for saying the Skipp and Okoli transfers were bad at the time, I was called crazy for saying Brendan Rodgers was eroding the mentality of our squad. I have been called crazy for a lot of things on here that in hindsight were obvious and correct. Not saying I'm right about everything but the number of times I have been correct yet outright dismissed shows that the consensus opinion on foxestalk is often bollocks.

Signing a 31 year old winger who has barely played in the last 2 seasons due to an ACL is not forced negativity, it is a valid concern. Saying it is forced makes it looks like you're unwilling to keep the debate open. Realistically if any of the two camps is forced between the negative one and the positive one surely it would be the latter given the state of the club and the ineptness on and off the pitch we have witnessed over the years. Personally I think we have a better chance of going up next season playing Carr than Burns. Carr is one that has impressed in pre season, unlike Chaplin for example who despite being off the pace still has his place in the squad secured. Not really much more he could have done to get an opportunity. I guess we'll see how the season unfolds, if we storm the league then fair enough but if we struggle again then what was the point of bringing in these older players if they can't do the business.

Monga was sold for £10mil despite only playing 800 league minutes for us last season.

There are 3 midfield positions, doesn't matter if he's a 6,8 or 10 he's still competing for that third midfield role alongside Skipp and Braybrooke. Cullen the other day against Genoa was filling the same spot in the team as Page, even if they have different roles. He is also competing for positions on the bench of which there aren't many. After you factor in the new signings and the existing players he will struggle to get into the matchday squad. I think where he is most likely to get game time is as Braybrooke's backup but ideally they would have played together. I think a loan is best for him, if he has another season where he barely plays we are at risk of stalling his development.

Page has Cullen, BDCR and Chaplin ahead of him. He won't play much for us if he stays, needs to go out on loan for his own sake. Assuming Skipp is still here at the start of the season that is and if he is gone that we won't have brought in a replacement.

Page and Carr will go out on loan probably. If they stay no way they are getting 20+ appearances unless it's 10 minutes off the bench here and there.

Here's a thought: perhaps Chelsea's issue is not that their squad is young but that they suffer from squad bloat and regularly chopping and changing their team. Chelsea were fine in 19/20 when they were forced to play their academy players due to a transfer ban.

Can someone explain why he's not starting games? Seems to score regularly so surely he isn't second choice. Does he have somewhere better to be in the first half?

Oliver skipp got dog walked by 34 year old kenny McLean in the Norwich 2-0 loss. Skipp is not going to magically start to be able to turn on the ball in league one. If he wasn't doing it against Northampton's reserves earlier in pre season it's not going to happen against league one opposition.

Offensive to Nampalys Mendy and I'm not even a massive fan of him. Mendy at least had runs where he looked like a good Prem midfielder such as Christmas 2020/2021. Skipp on the other hand has seen us drop two divisions with a whimper and we're not even sure if he will be up to standard in league one either.

I have it on good authority that Braybrooke has been regularly seen backing Skipp into a corner and tying his shoelaces together.

BDCR, Skipp, Winks last season was probably our worst midfield ever. Two central midfielders who take forever to move the ball forwards and an attacking midfielder who loses the ball 50% of the time when it finally gets to him. So we massively struggled to get the ball into attacking areas. None of them ran particularly hard either, so frustrating. Makes what Jordan James did last season playing with those 3 that much more impressive.

Anything is better than signing the corpses of Ings and Adebayo.

That is the entirety of our TV money this season. Shouldn't be giving anyone a £25k a week contract in the state we are in. Especially someone who scored 2 goals in the championship last season.

We are probably using the Monga fee as a benchmark which is why this has stalled.

Hutchinson is on the bench, Souttar won't play another professional game for us, I can't imagine anyone is actually annoyed about not getting to watch Choudhury who has been in the team for almost a decade. Aluko and McFarlane I can accept.
