He was a nightmare for our defenders to play against a few years ago but I understand he's washed now? We dont need more experienced pros running down their career here, we need to be thinking of the future and developing the young talent we have in Monga, Evans and Hutchinson who will be competing for the same positions. The win now approach at the expense of squad planning does not work.

You're clearly watching a different player to me, Winks doesnt show frustration, he shows apathy and a lack of effort. If he was frustrated and giving it his all despite the manager then im sure everyone on here would back him. As someone who cant stand him when he played like he did against Hull, leaving his all on the pitch, I had to hold my hands up and commend the tenaciousness he showed that day. Sadly that's a rarity for him and he quite often doesnt apply himself, pulls out of tackles and doesnt track runners. When you look at Jordan James next to him you can see the real difference that a player applying themselves makes and Winks does not do that. He has been awful for 2/3 of his time here despite clearly being talented and yet for some reason I cant call a spade a spade and say he's checked out.

It's pretty obvious he's got an attitude problems from his behaviour on the pitch. His poor body language and lack of effort are plain to see for everyone as well as him storming down the tunnel multiple times at the beginning of this season. If you saw a man coming up to an old lady at a crossing and instead of helping her he punched her and stole her handbag you should be able to infer that he's a twat without meeting him. It's the same with Winks, we have enough evidence to infer that he's got an attitude problem.

He's fine to be sceptical of the manager but considering the wage he's being paid he still needs to be putting in 110% effort everytime he steps on the pitch and in training. Too often he's clearly not bothered and is a liability.

Can't believe im seeing some people prefer Begovic or Iversen? Begovic was awful, especially against Sheffield united, so many missed saves and didn't come out for crosses. Iversen would have been written off by our fans permanently if he made that mistake a few weeks ago in a leicester shirt. Stolarczyk has been one of the best shot stoppers in the league and is excellent on crosses, we would be looking at relegation if we had Begovic starting instead.

I personally think he inevitably benches Skipp but Skipp can cary on starting if Braybrooke struggles with the step up -
All im going to say is that Winks makes Soumare look like a marathon runner.

Sammy has never played in the championship? At Dundee he was not long off his injury and was yet to reach the level that he was before it. Now he's gotten back to his pre injury level and surpassed it he should be good enough for a shot in the championship. I didn't say that he should be a lead player but with Winks in the bin and Soumare out injured he would be in a good position in our squad to rotate with Skipp. -

Im also going off the basis that before his injury he was arguably a better player than Wharton, who was starting and playing well in the championship at that time and is now a £60mil player on the fringe of the England team. He might not ever match Wharton's current level but it is not far to suggest that he can match Wharton's level when he was making his breakout in the championship, which Braybrooke was arguably already better than before his injury. -

Taken off at half time because they were already 2-0 down and wanted to save their best player for the league. Braybrooke was the only Newport player who played well in that game as usual. Before his injury he was out performing Rico Lewis and Adam Wharton whilst on the same pitch for the England youth teams. He might not ever get back on the same career trajectory as those two but with him regaining his confidence a player of his talent could be able to skip a level and make the leap from league 2 to championship. -
will be hard to surpass Dewsbury Hall considering the way he's been playing for Everton.
-
Braybrooke is averaging 3-4 tackles a game at Newport, might not be able to replicate those numbers at a higher level but he knows how to get into the right positions to win the ball back and is surprisingly physical given how slender he looks.

Drinkwater was just better at football than Winks, work ethic or not. Winks sits at the base of midfield and passes sideways and backwards because that's all he can do. Drinkwater could play balls over the top, carry the ball up the pitch, score from range and he could also play the short passing football that Winks gets praised for and did it at Premier league level rather than in the championship. Very underrated footballer due to how his career went at Chelsea and shouldnt be put in the same conversation ability wise as Wink.

Good riddance. Can't believe some of our fans saw the performances he put in last season and were happy to keep him around.

This, i dont care how well we play as long as we are making the right steps to get the playing squad on the right track. Faes on the bench, Winks out of the squad, Nelson in the XI and Aluko, Evans, Page, Silko Thomas on the bench is a positive place to start, rebuilding is a marathon, not a sprint.

The kingpower masterclass, bet against us, tank the club. Next summer we have enough money to sign Mbappe.
-
He will find it his way to that level or the bench of some Belgian side like Westerlo anyway. We're the only losers in that situation.
-
There have been a few times where he has thrown the towel in when we're 2 or more goals down. Just stops trying to block or tackle and is as much as an onlooker as the rest of us. Also he doesnt just throw his hands up in air when we concede, he throws his hands up in the air, complains to his teammates and it was often his error that caused us to concede in the first place.

It's part of the problem with our wage structure, Vardy can point to players like Winks, Faes, Soumare etc who are on £80-90k a week who dont pull their weight and he is in every right to say he would be hard done by if he didn't earn more. At Cremonenese where everyone is earning £10k a week £30k a week suddenly seems a lot more reasonable. We need to get all the high earners out and reset our average wage to £10-20k a week with a team of young hungry players.

Similar to Maddison in that he is one of the few players who have shown any quality this season but is receiving the brunt of the backlash from fans due to his off field personality. Personally I like the fact that he actually cares and wants to be here, his decision making has been off this season but without his goals we would be staring down the barrel of a second consecutive relegation.
-
Braybrooke is actually improving every time he has stepped on the pitch this season. This loan has been massive for him considering how lost and out of confidence he looked in pre season, hopefully massive for us in the long term as he looks back on track for making it to our first team. All we need is Will Alves back fit and playing well and we could have the dream scenario of all three of Alves, Nelson and Braybrooke being key players for us next season in place of Winks, Cordova Reid, Faes.
-
We would be better off starting Soumare. Considering how well Winks started here it's a major indictment on how he has allowed his level to fall off. Hopefully we dont see him put on the shirt again.

Winks and Faes's last game for the club? A man can hope, it's all fallen apart since they returned to the starting XI. Two of the most disgraceful players we have ever had.- 196 replies

I'm not really bothered by who we have as a manager as long as our squad is filled with twats. Should have stuck with Van Nistelrooy, at least if he was still here Winks and Vestergaard and a few others would be gone by now.
