Burns played like a 31 year old who has barely played for 2 seasons because of an ACL. Let's hope that the Wes Burns who tore up league 1 for Ipswich 4 years ago is still in there and that we will see him sooner rather than later. The player who played against Notts County was not the same player and it's disrespectful to the player Burns was to suggest otherwise.

The topic at the time was our ex academy players not making the Man City u21 squad. I was just pointing out that Monga will probably be with the first team this week. People are very touchy about Monga for some reason.

With Savinho and Marmoush leaving and Doku injured Monga will likely be on Man City's first team bench on Sunday.

There are only positive things said about Faes by people who know him personally. The only thing that matters is on the pitch personality and Souttar has not been with it recently.

If they were willing to pay for it earlier and Rudkin was going to accept it surely we could have reached an agreement? We have turned down multiple bids, the way I see it was we were probably looking to maximise the money and it backfired.

Sometimes you can't get the maximum you think we should get for a player. Holding out for more money has cost us more than it has earned us in the long run.

Bookies can be wrong. Skipp, BDCR, Thomas, Okoli were regulars last season and struggled against a team who were recently in league 2 the other day, Ayew has been struggling to perform at Ghanian Sunday league level over the summer, Daka is Daka and Winks was no better than Skipp last season. If you look at the squad we had last season, apart from Jordan James and Fatawu, that was a league one level squad. Considering we spent £100m on transfer fees for the services of those players I dont see how we could be run worse. I dont think there are more incompetent owners than ours in the English football pyramid, especially now that Chansiri guy is gone. Sure there could theoretically be someone worse but practically there is no one worse out there.

Fully agree. Also if you are going to play possession football surely you dont play Cullen as one of your main midfielders who likes to go hiding during games. It's like Martin doesn't even understand what is required to make possession football work. You need 10 players who are constantly wanting the ball and are available to receive it in tight spaces. Possession football when done well is not having the ball stuck being passed between the midfield and the centre backs.

Does it cost points? Apart from Nelson the academy players have barely played in the last 2 seasons both of which have been some of the worst in the club's history. Don't think we would have been worse off if, for example, we had Alves playing instead of Cordova Reid during the last 2 seasons.

I think surely you would see him play striker some times though? Evans for example mostly played on the wing but he would have the odd game at striker. Hutchinson has been exclusively a winger since being promoted from the U18s. Also wasn't lineker originally considered a winger, so it's not quite the same. I think we're the only team to play kane on the wing as well, considering how his time here went I don't think that was the best for him.

The question is that if Bristric and Cordova Reid are injured do the club even see Hutchinson as the next in line or is it someone like Cullen? We might even play Watson, Burns or Opoku there before playing Hutchinson. I'm unsure if the club even see Hutchinson as a striker as he keeps ending up on the wing. I want him to go out on loan where he can establish his position at striker. A loan also seems to be a pre requisite to get game time here, as seen with Aluko and Page.

Football's just a racket for senior players to shift the blame for their poor performances onto younger players. 17 year old Krubally was Burton's best player in their last game, who is most likely who is being referenced by this. This attitude just sickens me. Similar to Begovic talking about our relegation on that podcast, first thing he mentions is "young squad". No accountability or shame from these entitled experienced players.

Scored 15 and assisted 5 in 15 at u18 level. Scored 4 and assisted 3 in 11 in the PL2, so less impressive on the face of it but you have to keep in mind we have played him at left wing since he was promoted to the u21s for some bizarre reason. Had some good moments in pre season but again was played as a winger so we have no idea what he looks like as a striker in the context of our first team.

New transfers blocking the pathway for academy players has become a bit of a running joke on here but unfortunately it is an inevitable consequence. It would be more palatable if the player who took his place in the team (Cullen) was actually any good.

I don't rate Skipp but he would be a lot better on the ball than Okoli and Souttar as a centre back. Especially with him only having to worry about what's in front of him. Our main threat defensively at the moment is ourselves losing the ball in our own box, so I'm more worried about that than I am about Skipp being too short. Also the one thing he has done well here are last ditch tackles in the box, so it would be playing to his strengths. Another benefit would be it keeps him out of our midfield.

This is the answer. He's not longer up to it as a midfielder in the top 4 leagues. Needs to find new life as a ball playing centre back.
