The Sevilla fans in the comments dont think that their debt situation is bad, we have more even after the write off. They are probably willing to sell their squad because their squad is poor for a club that wants to play and compete in Europe every season.

I think there is a middle ground between the craziness of our tranfer strategy in the years before we went down and teams that will try and put the selling club in a tough position to force a panic sale. Even though the deal didnt go through offering 40 mil for Trincao a couple months after he got sold for 20mil was as bewildering as it got, especially considering how he has turned out as a player.

The issue is that they are actually not skint. Bologna and Sevilla have bought plenty of player in the £10m price range recently and will probably buy multiple players that cost the same as the release clauses for Soumare and Kristiansen in the coming summer. They are just trying to squeeze as much off the transfer price as possible. There are teams in Serie A and La Liga that are struggling but Sevilla and Bologna are not one of them considering they have both spent more than they have sold in recent years.

I think this as well, he didnt seem as desperate to make things happen before then and was a bit more measured with his play, now he's forcing things he paradoxically is doing less.

A big part of that 19/20 collapse under Rodgers was Ricardo Pereira, Ndidi and Vardy's injuries (albeit we should have had midtable form from then on, not relegation). These and Winks are the 3 players in our squad I trust in to do a job no matter the occasion, with Ndidi and Vardy out it's a big worrying but unlike in our most recent seasons i think the quality and level headedness of Ricardo and Winks will be able to get us over the line.

What has Cannon done to make people think he is a better player than Daka? Daka has shown far more this season than Cannon and it's not even close between the two.

He was class in every way except for finishing last night (and his response to his bad finishing). Considering we had Ayoze Perez on the wing whilst we were finishing 5th I think Mavididi is more than good enough for the PL.

Maguire is definitely faster than Vestegaard, Vestegaard offers much more on the ball though.

Justin isnt great at passing like Callum Doyle for example but he is better than Doyle at protecting the ball which is valuable when playing from the back.

If you sell him for 8 mil with 2 years left then you would pay 10 mil for the player in that accounting year and receive 8 mil back, which would be a loss on the books for that accounting year. The following 2 years you would have more wiggle room in the transfer market as you no longer have the 5 mil payments. So selling a player for a loss does release funds in the long term but is detrimental in the short term, it also gets wages off the book. If we had more FFP wiggle room then selling players for a loss would be a better long term strategy.

Barnes reminds me of Rashford. Some games he's just unplayable but due to his lack of work rate and inconsistent technical ability when he's off it he's really bad. I dont think G+A tell the story when you compare the two because even in a bad game Mavididi is helping keep his opposition winger quiet and has the technical ability to always be a threat even if the game's not right for him.

He's exceeded expectations this season. He has 5 league goals playing out of position and at times hasnt looked out of place playing in a Premier League squad. He might not be a Premier League ready player at 22 but he has come on leaps and bounds development wise.

U21 players dont need to be registered in the squad to play. Neither him nor Cannon are in our 25 man squad if i remember correctly.

He played on the left wing didnt he? It's a bit unfair to him that he was played out of position.

I think he's been quite good when he's played, he just hasnt played that much. Im more confident going into a game with him in midfield than Praet.

He scored in consecutive games (and played well) and hasnt featured since. I like him but clearly Maresca wants to use the funds elsewhere in the summer.
