There is a decent possibility that if we lose Enzo we sign Russell Martin after he fails to get promoted with Southampton. The idea of it is enough to make my todger shrivel up.

Who would we hire in his place is the question? We're not exactly an attractive proposition at the moment with our point deductions, financial situation, recently promoted status etc.

The draw for the first game of the season is weighted so that the best teams of last season don't play each other. Most likely we will draw a top six side, at best it will be someone from midtable like Brighton or Wolves.

15 mil for a goalkeeper is crazy. Even if we sold Hermansen I hope we wouldn't use it to spend that amount of money on a goalkeeper.

Liverpool nowadays wouldn't sign Henderson. In the early 2010s Liverpool would sign any English player that showed promise, it took Henderson multiple seasons to come good. Henderson came in a transfer window when they signed Stuart Downing for £20 mil and Charlie Adam for £7 mil, Dewsbury Hall would have been a textbook signing for them back then. Now they're signing top players like Endo, Sozbolai and Macallister. Someone like Henderson is simply not on the radar of these players talent wise and wouldn't have broken into the first team if he signed for liverpool now.

Henderson was an ok player in a great team. Never impressed for England and has struggled to perform in Saudi Arabia and the Eredivisie since leaving Liverpool. The gap in ability between Henderson and Dewsbury hall isnt that big. A league title and a champions league flatters Henderson for the player that he is, Albrighton isnt a better player than Saka because he won the league for example.

Ball playing wise he is definitely of the same quality, an accurate long pass in league one is the same as one in the PL and he's very fast with his feet for a defender. Defensively he's only had 1 season at championship level and has been good at league 1 level so it's hard to tell if he can match Vestergaard defensive ability. It's not like Vestergaard's defensive ability is solid PL level and Edwards is certainly faster, though not particularly fast. I could see Edwards potentially being a better defender than Vestergaard but we wont know until they play in the same league.

I'm not arguing that re signing Vestegaard is a bad idea but it's not like ball playing centre backs are a rarity in English football anymore. Ronnie Edwards at Peterborough has similar ball playing ability and would cost around 8-10 mil, which considering we spent similar on Coady it's not exactly breaking the bank.

Maresca said it best - it's fine to lose players but we cannot go into next season weaker than we started this one. Vardy was our top scorer last season and had the best scoring rate in the league, who are we going to sign to replace that? If you're Ipswich or whichever other team gets promoted signing Vardy on a free would be a very shrewd piece of business, especially if you're struggling with finding money to make signing due to FFP like we are. Unless he's asking for crazy money then we would be crazy not to re sign him.

Wouldn't go for Jobe Bellingham, he's a big talent but he would be expensive and he's not ready for top flight football.

If either of these teams go up I'm confident about finishing above them. That's considering we might get a 10 point deduction as well.

Praet wasnt particularly good when he played, Sensi was considered one of the best midfielders in Serie A at one point. At least when Sensi is fit he will be starting quality.

He's also on 250k a week as Bilbao dont spend much on transfers. I wouldn't even take him on a free unless we were able to flip him for profit in the same summer.

Part of me thinks people who post this dont even like Vardy, they just use him to get one over on Kane.

Could be a statistical error. Based on his highlights he seems to hit the ball well enough which doesnt align with his atrocious 50% long ball success rate on fbref.

His pass completion % is a bit poor for a ball playing centre back. Not sure he's capable of replacing Vestergaard in the side.

Mcatee was disappointing this season, people want him because he was one of Manchester City's best academy players at one point alongside the likes of Cole Palmer and Oscar Bobb but unlike the other two he cant seem to translate his talent into good PL performances. I would steer clear.

If we're selling Daka maybe go for Odsonne Edouard on the cheap from Crystal Palace?

He's a good finisher but the main worry for me is that he doesnt seem to get many chances. Most of his shots seem to be wild attempts without any space to pull them off that end up hitting the first defender, which worked against Huddersfield but isnt a reliable way to create chances for yourself. Hopefully he can get some coaching from Vardy or Daka because, despite their finishing not being great this season, their movement to find space around the box is excellent and it is the reason that they start over Cannon.

He's a champions league quality player with a poor injury record. Ability wise he is probably better than any midfielder we will sign instead of him but it is his availability that was in question.

Championship stats dont matter, Burnley conceded 35 last season and 74 this season. If I could choose one of the two to keep between Vestergaard and Faes it would be Vestergaard honestly. Faes just is too unpredictable to build a solid PL defence around.

The closer we get to playing in the Premier League the less confident I am that Vestegaard and Faes can maintain their form from this season. For me a priority would be some new centre backs then the midfield.
