  1. On the subject of how energy prices are calculated here and why it is in need of drastic reform, I'd highly recommend giving this excellent explainer video a watch
  2. Me to! Though I dropped the module before being able to fail it šŸ˜‚ He’s staunchly left wing and even then (~10 years ago) he apparently had very little to do with her due to her politics.
  3. I think the most likely way MAGA outlives Trump is by becoming a family dynasty, with Don Jr presumably being his preferred immediate successor. Whoever he appoints, which is surely what he’ll do, will get a strong backing from the base. But the cult (checks spelling carefully) of him seems so tied to him and his family the most plausible way for it to continue is for it to continue in the family.
  4. It’s also quite a mixed message, he’s said it as a criticism but we all know of his fondness and admiration for dictators.
  5. Puts into perspective how much we’ve underachieved that they have that many more
  6. Liverpool announce their new signing with manager Arne Slot saying ā€œTom Daley will fit in perfectly with the rest of the squadā€
  7. FUCHING BOOK HIM THEN?!
  8. As a Leicester fan I obviously want Liverpool to win today, but is hard not to agree with you. He’s given everything he possibly can their way and send seems determined to disrupt you as well.
  9. That was embarrassing from Diaz, VAR should be getting involved there. Never getting the ball, goes down well before any contact, and kicks his leg out to get the slightest touch from the keeper. It’s a dive* and it’s pathetic. *Also Vardy did that sort of thing a lot more convincingly in his prime
  10. I’m not going to pretend to understand the medical evidence, but I find it hard to see past the statistical evidence. Correlation doesn’t mean causation of course, but it’s incredibly damming with how the death rate changed when she was moved and eventually arrested. Is that enough to lock someone away and throw away the key? Probably not. But it was enough in conjunction with the medical evidence for the jury, and nobody will know the case as well as them with the amount of time the trial took. I would say it’s good argument against the death penalty though. It seems there is enough doubt to at least never be 100% sure, even if it was able to be decided beyond reasonable doubt that she is guilty.
  11. Even by his standards (incredible standards, the best standards, nobody has standards like him) that was incredible. How can your reaction to an incident like that be so undignified and opportunistic...
  12. Sanchez is nowhere near good enough for a side challenging at the top of the table
  13. I think that’s a really short sighted mistake. In all likelihood we’re going to be back in the championship next season and in him we had a bright young player who had proved himself to be good at that level. Now we’ll only have Daka, maybe a 56 year old Vardy, as attackers at the club.
  14. Dyche gone at Everton!
  15. You could see the ref wasn't sure, I wish they were able to request going to the screen when the have doubts.
  16. Horrendous here near Market Bosworth. This is what the river/stream usually looks like. This is what it looks like now.
  17. He didn't need much help with that to be fair
  18. Not happy, but I’d find it hard to disagree. He’s gone for the ball, missed it, and made significant contact. It’s a penalty.
  19. I wonder if there’s a point that Musk becomes so unhinged it’s too much even for Trump. If that point does exist, we must be getting close to it.
  20. Well why shouldn't he, some Labour activists went over to campaign for the Democrat's don't you know. Therefore this is totally comparable and fair game /s
  21. I have a Ring doorbell and use a Raspberry Pi manage the feed with it linked into HomeKit on my Apple devices. Slightly fiddly and technical to set up, but once it's running it's great and no subscription costs to pay. I use the Scrypted open source software on the Pi but there are a few other alternatives I think.
  22. But have they actually been flown there, or is it just an elaborate and very cold film studio to show them a 24 hour sun? It's not like seeing evidence is going to convince them, they'll just add another layer to the conspiracy to fit their beliefs.
  23. I've always thought tidal was a no brainer for the UK. Vast coastlines, completely predictable, out of the way, it seems perfect. I don't know much about why it isn't bigger than it is, presumably the construction cost is pretty high? As for storage do fill in for when renewables aren't producing much, a complete rethink of the grid to take advantage of the increasing number of high capacity batteries sat on driveways needs to happen. Most cars spend so little time actually driving, and as the number of EVs increases we have a huge opportunity to tap into that storage. Even if 20% of a cars capacity was optionally offered up to the grid to ensure the car has the power to be used if needed, that could be huge in terms of handling demand. While fusion is the golden bullet, it does feel like we already have all the building blocks needed to have a clean energy. It's just a matter of working out how the blocks fit together, and how to handle the initial cost of the switch that will save money in the long run.
