Farage taking over as leader of Reform.

With their latest polling it now has Labour winning in Bosworth with a 3% majority, wow!
-
I'm in Bosworth, which has been Tory since the 60's. Before that it was Labour for a couple of decades, and Liberal before that (according to a quick scan of Wikipedia). In '97 it was only won by ~1k votes so I suppose it's not beyond possibility it could go to Labour but it seems pretty doubtful. I've only heard decent things about the incumbent MP who took on the seat in 2019, whereas the previous MP nobody had anything good to say about yet he was still voted in for over 30 years.

Fair point, it just seems unimaginable that ~27,000 could no longer be considered safe. The thing with those results you’ve cited, and I know this is a Tory line but on this occasion I think it might actually be true, those by elections had a lot of extra baggage with the circumstances that caused them. I obviously have an interest with it being my constituency, but it’ll be a very interesting one to help quantify just how badly it goes for them.

I’m quite puzzled as to why Sunak visited Bosworth yesterday when it’s surely one of the safest seats in the country. Surely his time would be better spent in seats that they’re at a real risk of losing. Either they’re worried about seats that have a majority of ~27,000, or he really has just given up and doesn’t care about trying to limit the damage.

Fantastic fight. Usyk definitely shaded it and deserved the win, but I think you could make a case for a win for either or even a draw. There were a lot of rounds you could have given either way. I had it 6-6 with Usyk winning with the knockdown. Once it has finished I said to my Dad it would be Usyk spilt decision, seemed about right to me.

Through DAZN, or Sky Sports Box Office. They both let you watch online without already having a subscription. I’ve bought this, it feels too big to be having to jump around streams as they get taken down.

Well there’s being a sore loser, and then there’s Susan Hall. I’ve seen more classy things on the bottom of my shoe than her during Khan’s speech.

Wait, are you saying parroting lines from the daily mail doesn’t count as knowledge?

I still think our title win knocked the universe of balance and since then we’ve been living in a universe where everything that can go wrong does. Totally worth it.

While it wasn’t the strongest touch on the ball, it did significantly change the path of it. For me that’s one where the ref should be sent to the screen if he’s told VAR he didn’t think there was a touch on the ball. -

That’s got to be in reverse?

Congratulations to him and his remarkable achievement getting 117% of the vote.

He was kicked out of them a couple of weeks ago

Unfortunately I agree, while I think the Lib Dems would have the best chance of unseating the Tories I don't think they will. I'm in one of those extremely rural villages and can't see many voting anything other than Tory. I was talking with one of the local farmers recently who still parrots the "Boris did a great job" line...

Stupid, but not a red. You see them every week and it’s a yellow. -
I’ve seen him waiting in the local GP surgery a couple of times (as a patient, not as the local MP) so I assume he lives up here now. He’s certainly an improvement on David “astrology will save the NHS” Tredinnick, but so would my dog. If in practice we actually voted for our local MP rather than who we want in government I’d consider voting for him based on the interaction I’ve had and what I’ve heard from others locally, but I’ll probably vote Lib Dem as they have the best chance of unseating the Conservatives locally.

Not by this ref

While watching it I began to wonder if there had been some sort of agreement between the two to try and be a bit more civil. PMQ’s has recently descended into an even more embarrassing spectacle than it’s always been, I wonder if the controversy around Sunak’s trans comment before recess was enough to force them to take a look at themselves and reconsider how they come across. While it was relatively dull, I found it a pleasant improvement over what we’ve seen lately. Sunak still didn’t come close to answering a single question, but it all felt considerably more like grown ups rather than kids in a playground.
