Ooh, can I contribute? I'm as bog-standard as "British" or "English" gets, but I couldn't give a monkeys about my nationality. I think obsessing over nationality is for losers (or worse). I don't care in the slightest if other people living in this country identify as "British". I love spending time amongst those from other backgrounds - including the areas causing so much concern to wrong 'uns here and abroad. I don't feel the need to defend some utterly imaginary and time-bound "British culture". I understand that we are absolute pin-pricks in history - complete nonentities. Am I over privileged due to my background? For the folks repeatedly posting about Muslim countrymen in just-about-veiled terms, what are you all *really* worried about?
I'll stop there.
