QPR home pre-match thread, 3pm Saturday.

True. I wouldn’t underestimate either. QPR deserve respect and we have been just as good away as at home. I also go by how they performed against us in the last game. I trust Maresca to get the balance right. Two games in three days. I’d still bring on some of the better players second half at home and keep some freshness for the second game away. Start with first eleven first game and it will be very tough away. Will be interesting to see what he does. Have to bear in mind that he did rest some players in the cup until late and it went to extract time and we bought on some of the A- team. -

True but I go on what I have seen with my own eyes and I think there are reasons behind each run of form. I think Sunderland away will be the tougher game. But you’re right we shouldn’t underestimate QPR either as they are decent and have done well of late. Every game is a cup final from no one. Hopefully including the actual cup final 😀🙏🏻🦊 -

I think he might go with a similar approach to the Bournemouth cup game with some of the better players on the bench with the option of bringing them on in the second half if needed. Tuesday may be the tougher game and we need to minimise injuries for the long run in. We need to win both though. -
Not even a year gone and I’d forgotten how much I dislike Chelsea. Still it’s not spuds.
-
I’d rather have played Leeds and got revenge. Chelsea will be a tougher ask but still doable. Keep it tight and nick a goal so that it will get their crowd on their back.
-
That wasnt the worse draw. Yes home to cov would have been nice but could have been man city away. At least it gives me a good excuse to watch the game on tv tonight. If Leeds win we can get retribution. We know now we can play at a better level than them. If Chelsea win I do believe we can beat them too. I didn’t realise Seaman was a Leeds fan btw. Gone down in my estimation.

I’m not so much worried about QPR but Tuesday night away against Sunderland. The latter are a bit of a jeckel and Hyde club and they were good against us earlier in the season. That said I think if we defend well on Saturday I’d be tempted to make minimal changes in defence before the Sunderland game.
-
Thought that was the best I’ve seen him in a city shirt last night. With vesty (who was excellent again) missing the next two games I think he will come straight in. Nelson looked good when he came on too. It will be interesting to see what he does with Doyle and whether Souttar makes the squad. We have to keep the defence tight over the next run of games.

Coventry Leeds or Forest at home please. If any of them get through.
-
I thought the same against Leeds. The only city centre half in recent memory was erm. I’m struggling still.

I thought the keeper did well to get fingers to it to be honest. He had been threatening that for ages. Remember when he hit the bar at home against Leeds. I thought we had a chance here tonight but I thought the lineup was going a bit too weak - how wrong I was. I thought everyone put a shift in and looked composed. More than that they had a good understanding between the players. Hamza was great. Vesty was great again like he was at Leeds. I can’t eat any more humble pie on his behalf. Marcal had his best game in a city shirt. Coady and Praet looked solid. Very very pleased with that. -

Brilliant. Just what we needed. Great performance. -
Bad news for leeds - good news for Leicester

After successive league defeats we could do with a good show tonight to get a bit of confidence back. If we got a result that would give us a bit of momentum for the final push. I thought we actually played to a high level for 90% of the match on Friday. If we do that again then this will be a close game and with a bit of the luck that we didn’t get against Leeds we could win this.
-
I doubt they will. If they beat Ipswich and Leeds which from what I saw last night they are perfectly capable of doing and then go on a run the. They can go up still. There are still twists to come.

All spot on. This is a forum and at any point in time you tend to get those with the strongest views dominating at any time. It rarely reflects the views of the majority and that’s why you see such swings and not a city full of bipolar fans. The majority view seemed to be we would get beaten by Leeds last night. It turned out to be true but that performance was better than even I expected. I feel more bitter than I expected this morning that we lost that one and we can’t let our heads drop like that when things turn against us. But I am also enthused by the quality of performance last night. For the large majority of the game we were clearly the better of the top two team in this division. Carry that on and we are back in the prem.
-
I thought the way he set up last night was excellent. Targeted their weak positions and hamza played the Ricardo role very well allowing Ricardo a free role to dominate midfield and set up the offence. We pressed and defended very well too with great discipline and togetherness. Once again I wasn’t convinced with the timing and nature in substitutions but to be fair we didn’t have a lot of choice and fresh legs were required.
-
We weathered the pressure early on but prevented them getting in. Then took a lead and for most of the remaining part of the match we did dominate and if not for a bad refereeing decision and fluffed chances then those deflections at the end would not have counted. So whilst the end was shocking we did play very well for the most part against a difficult opponent. We were in my opinion a bit lucky earlier in the season but I’d never call winning the EPL and FA cup just alright. That was the stuff of dreams.

The league and cup double is still on 😀

I will wait til the end of the season to be fair. We were quite unlucky tonight against a good team. Vesty was a warrior tonight in a difficult first half. Riccardo was superb. Winks and KDH both stood up and counted. Its difficult to draw comparisons with great teams of the past but I’m pleased with the progress since May. A bit of luck and we would have won that one and the narrative would have swung completely the other way. We need to keep things in perspective. -

Vesty and Ricardo were superb tonight. Tough result as that was one of our best games this season. First half we rode our luck and defended stoutly. If that Daka goal hadn’t been wrongly disallowed and we had taken the second half chances we would have won that easily against a decent team. -

I know you weren’t mate. It hasn’t been great but not that bad either. Vardy top scorer and good contributions from the likes of mavs KDH Daka etc. we have been spoilt by Vardy for many years up front but by some miracle we are where we are and have got a really decent team together. Much better than I thought we’d have in the summer. We are where we are so let’s help them on home. -

Vardy must have a good goals per minute ratio and was just coming into form. Bad time to get injured and I was worried before the game. I thought Daka did well tonight apart from missing that sitter. Cannon looks promising. Kel sadly has been the big disappointment. Let’s be honest we played well tonight just had some tough luck with the disallowed goal and a bad deflection. Time to shake it off and get behind the team again. You wouldn’t swap our position with anyone else in the league. -

It’s not excuses. That was one of our best games of the season for the majority of the match. Yes we should have taken our chances but disallowed goal and unlucky deflections too. Leeds to be fair are deserving of their place in the league but if we continue to play like that we should still do it.
