Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager
izzymuzzet replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Interesting brief discussion about Martin on the Guardian Football Weekly pod today. Gist of it was all the journos on the panel think he’s a bit of a fraud who throws his players under a bus on a regular basis. -
Don’t think it’s a coincidence that this bloke’s only good season was during Covid when there were no fans in. Can imagine he looks decent in training and doesn’t seem a bad guy but when faced with any kind of battle he just hides.

Summer 26 Transfer rumours 'X' and other Weak Links
izzymuzzet replied to davieG's topic in Transfer Talk
I know nothing about this lad but the last time we signed a player who'd banged in 30+ goals the previous season at a non-league club playing on the Fylde peninsula it worked out rather well, so gerrimin. -
Not the most relevant part of that article of course, but "the LE2 organisation" is an incredible second mention.

29 years old and he's made 45 professional appearances. Can't decide if being a third choice goalkeeper is the best job in the world or a profoundly depressing waste of manhood.

On the Radio Leicester post-match yesterday, they said a bid for Mavididi had been turned down by the club. Been trying really hard to remember the last good game he had for us and I’m struggling. Certainly not last season. He had the odd moment early in the Premier League season but was mostly poor. So he’s another player like Winks, Faes and Vestergaard who’ve spent several years at the club but were only successful for half a season under Enzo Maresca.

Lots to love about Italy but its political class isn’t exactly renowned for being squeaky clean.

It's infuriating. Yes he might be a bit raw but England desperately need a spin bowling allrounder to balance the team, he looks to have a high ceiling, and this was the perfect summer to integrate him into the squad. What a waste. -

Wout Faes signs for Leicester - Official
izzymuzzet replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I was absolutely disgusted to see Faes in the line up against Cov on the first day of the season THREE YEARS AGO. How is he still here?! -
I don't really know much about Borsan, but Maguire's whole thing isn't really about contacts. It's that's he able to analyse published accounts and financial statements and identify where there might be challenges, issues, problems etc. He might not get every single detail right but he was one of the first to report that we were in financial bother going back 3 years or so now.

Of course it could get worse with new owners. But it will get worse with King Power, because they either do not want to or cannot finance the club's losses any more. Which is presumably why they are looking to sell.

Was in the Stretford End the 1-1 in 2015/16 (day before the Chelsea vs Spurs game). Was hard work, especially when Morgan scored. Hung around a bit at the end of the game and realised there were hundreds of Leicester fans in that stand

They mean the Middle Eastern Midlands (Melton Mowbray)

Been to both in recent years, Seville far better imho.

I think it’s a good thing that someone from a relatively normal background who went to a comprehensive school can go to one of the top universities in the world.

Danny Ings (signing 1 year deal, John Percy.)
izzymuzzet replied to moore_94's topic in Transfer Talk
He's scored 20 goals in a season twice in his career. The last time he did that was six years ago. He's 34 in a couple of weeks. I don't particularly mind this signing if we're bringing in another striker who will play more games than Ings, but I'd be surprised if he started regularly and scored more than 8-10 goals. -

When we signed Kevin Phillips we already had Vardy, Nugent and Chris Wood. You just know this will be the only striker we sign and we'll be otherwise reliant on Evans and Hutchinson. -

Agreed on both counts. Only way this closed shop approach to selection ends is if Key and Baz go. I find it sad the way Hameed has been written off, he's not even 30 yet. -

Stokes' departure leaves a huge gap both in terms of his role in the team and as a leader. Let's face it, there is no like-for-like replacement. With only a year to go until a home Ashes there isn't much time to get selection right. For the balance of the team I would like to see Rehan come in as a bowling allrounder for home series, which would then allow us to play four quicks. Captaincy is a big dilemma - the only options in the current squad are Root (who doesn't want it and wasn't very good at it last time) and Brook (who doesn't seem like captain material right now). This would be a very un-England thing to do so it won't happen, but there is a case for Hameed to come in as a specialist captain and opener. Something like this looks more balanced to me than the team we put out at the Oval: Hameed Duckett Gay/Bethell Root Brook Smith/Foulkes/Rew Rehan Atkinson Robinson Carse/Tongue Archer -
Almost spat my tea out when the commentator said something about Ayew "putting himself about, in typical style".

Have you read Killing Thatcher? Milkman by Anna Burns is a great novel set in 1980s Northern Ireland. I also really recommend Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe if you’ve not read that yet. I’ve not read his latest yet, looking forward to once it comes out in paperback.

Loved Piranesi. Found it baffling at times but found myself thinking about it lots after. Need to go back and re-read at some point.

About 15 years. It’s changed a lot even in that time. A huge amount of development in the city centre. Apparently there were about 500 people living in the city centre in 1990 and now there are around 100,000. It’s got its problems like any city but you can feel the buzz around the place, it’s very vibrant.
