Pre Match - Bristol City (A) Dec 10th 7:45pm

Doubt this will happen but there’s a case for Aluko at right back in this one. Ricardo can’t play two in a week and Hamza has been pretty woeful in that position in most of the games he’s played. That aside I’d swap out Ayew for Daka and keep the rest of the team the same. -

Realistic Managerial Replacements
izzymuzzet replied to winteriscoming's topic in Leicester City Forum
Been a while since we appointed an older manager isn't it? Ranieri must have been the last one over 55 or so? Reckon we need some grizzled, chain-smoking, leather-faced unit to sort these losers out. Cifuentes, Cooper et al have been too keen to be mates with the players. I want someone with no time for any more friends because he's got 18 grandchildren. I want someone who doesn't know what a TikTok is and insists on players wearing a jacket to dinner. -
He must be regretting returning to certified bad eggs like Faes and Winks after the first few games when they were in the bomb squad. Would we really be any worse off in terms of points and position if our regular starting XI had looked something like this? Jakub Ricardo Nelson Okolo Aluko JJ Skipp Mavididi Alves/Page Fatawu Daka

Second season not a patch on the first in my opinion.

Looking back at our mid season sackings under the last 15 years. Cooper - sacked November - didn't improve, relegated Rodgers - sacked April - didn't improve, relegated Puel - sacked February - improved Shakespeare - sacked October - improved short-term, more debatable long-term Ranieri - sacked February - improved short-term, stayed up, Shakespeare sacked early the next season Sven - sacked October - didn't improve that season really, but long-term under Pearson it worked out So I'd say only Rodgers was clearly sacked too late. And only the sacking of Puel and replacement by Rodgers definitively worked out in both the short-term and long-term. Would say sacking Sven and bringing Nige back was obviously a move that worked out in the end, but it took a while. And we're under quite different ownership now.

Think I've explained my thinking in the rest of my post.

Personally think unless we look in genuine danger of relegation Cifuentes gets until the end of the season. I'm not opposed to this on the basis that: 1. Mid season changes in manager haven't really worked out for us in recent years. 2. We're not going to spend much in January so it will be the same squad. 3. We're unlikely to get automatic promotion with a points deduction looming. 4. I'm not sure I want us to get promoted with the squad in the state that it is. 5. I want to see us build for the future. If Cifuentes continues to play Nelson, Aluko, Monga and bring in a couple of other academy players through the season he'll have my support even if we're not competing at the top of the league. I'm not at all convinced by him so far but would rather make a clear judgement at the end of the season.

Think by the letter of the law Aluko's second yellow was justified, but agree the referee could have used his discretion to give a final warning. Similarly, Fatawu went down too easily before their 2nd but the ref had given a couple of very similar fouls for them just moments before. I'm not usually a ref basher and we may well have lost this game anyway but he and his assistants had a really poor game on Tuesday.

First goal is an incredible mistake from the linesman really. If you can't spot a player half a yard offside from a set piece then what are you even doing in that job.

Had a dream last night that we won this 6-0. Woyo Coulibaly scored two and Callum Elder scored a hat trick. Lump on, lads. -
The January Transfer Window …..Dos the major surgery start?

Faes will try to force a move in January I think, even if only on loan. He's out of the team again and will want to get back in the Belgium squad before the World Cup. Souttar should be back by then so that's a straightforward like for like replacement. -

Players who never played for Leicester that you can't believe never played for Leicester. Prompted by my thinking over the weekend that Jordan James is such a Leicester player that if he somehow had never played for us it would have been a surprise. A classic of this genre for me is Craig Mackail-Smith. Was banging in the goals at Peterborough while we were in the doldrums, think we were linked with him a couple of times but the timing never seemed right and by the time he moved on we were in the Sven moneybags era. -
Palmer's last game for England was in 1993. By the time Izzet was playing in the Premier League you had Ince, Beckham, Scholes, McManaman and then not long after that Gerrard and Lampard came along. As good as Izzet was (my favourite ever Leicester player and my childhood hero), I think he himself would admit he wasn't quite as good as any of those.

ChatGPT is weirdly terrible at providing accurate football statistics. The other day I was interested in finding out when the last time we lost to Derby in the league was and it claimed it was 2004. Knew this was nonsense because I remember us losing there under Pearson - I checked and sure enough it was 2013. You’d think an LLM would be able to fairly easily scrape data off Wikipedia or whatever to get the right answer but I find with this sort of query it is very frequently wrong. And Daka didn’t even score in that Southampton game 😂 -

On the basis that: A. The manager is the least of our problems and I’m not yet at the ‘absolutely has to go’ stage B. A points deduction puts us into the relegation mix I am happy with that win. I hope (although don’t expect) that this can be a turning point. -

As bad as we are, I've never at any point this season thought "You know what would improve this team? Kasey McAteer".- 263 replies

Only positive was that we looked a little more solid defensively and the back 3 were all decent. Major worry is we barely create anything and haven’t done all season. Most games this season we’ve had a couple of shots on target at most.

Said to my Derby supporting mate at the start of the season that they’d finish above us and he thought I was insane. Eustace is a very decent manager.

Leicester v Middlesboro - Tuesday 4th November

The All Blacks used to have a 'no dickheads' policy for squad selection. We've got an 'only dickheads' policy. -
Haven’t watched it but reading about that case it seems it was pure chance that his Mum disrupted his preparations. He clearly intended to commit a mass atrocity.

Understandably we struggle to comprehend the motivations of people committing horrific acts if we can't categorise them as either insane or politically motivated, but the reality is violent acts can happen for reasons that aren't easily understood. These acts even have their own acronym - MUU (mixed, unclear or unstable). They constitute the majority of recent referrals to Prevent. Both Rudakubana and Nicholas Prosper (teenager who shot his mum and siblings last year and was then stopped before he could get to his old primary school) fit into this category - they became obsessed with violence and ultimately acted on this obsession, but were otherwise found sound of mind (hence why they were both tried and are now in prison). Where as the Nottingham murderer had a long history of mental health problems.
