Can we do that on here?

There's a great deal in that I feel. The confidence he gives the team and also his ability to read the game and get himself in that position. It's his reading of the game where he is, for me at least, better than Ndidi (and, no, I don't like to compare either) I don't think it's simply that Rodgers doesn't like him, or underrates him, it's that Mendy doesn't perhaps fit into Rodgers' preferred style. Many have mentioned already that Mendy suits a formation and style of play. That style/shape leads to other questions (where to play Maddison, etc) Rodgers seems to like Ndidi's physicality in the middle, his covering in front of the defense. It gives Rodgers more attacking options, frees Maddison up to play his more natural and creative game in a more central position, partially relieved of defensive duties. Mendy doesn't allow that so much. My point is, it's not always like-for-like, either-or; there are ripples and consequences. IF (note, IF) Ndidi goes then the case for Mendy changes, because our game changes accordingly.

Lynex was perhaps my true first love.

I'm not sure Kane can count.

My word, Payet got hold of that. -
Kane's got first dibs on that one anyway.

What does that actually mean? I'm not having a go at anyone, it's a genuine question. What is to be totally cis? Is there a checklist or something? Rowling talks (in her essay) of coming to terms, in her youth, with the person she was, with the women she was... I don't doubt for a moment the very real thoughts inside the head of someone transgender, the notion of being born in the 'wrong body' and all that goes along with that, I just wonder about the definition of what it is to be a women (or a man) that is being applied.

Don't we set out to win every game? That's the intention anyway. Of course, to achieve that would be incredible but you have that attitude and see what happens.

Re on target chances, keeper beaten, etc (again)... As I mentioned, I don't recall our official on-target chances. I do recall however Barnes' effort and Nacho's two (the chip one being, imho, the more difficult) I'm going to call those chances our unofficial best chances. So for me at least, it seems 'on target chances' can be a tad misleading. Perhaps we ought have 'half arsed efforts' too.

On the frame is in!

The Staircase a docu-series, on before, years ago, but with the later (and final) episodes made, it's all been put on Netflix. His guilt or innocence will be debated but it's a masterly crafted series looking as much at the US criminal justice system as the crime itself. Superb viewing.

You couldn't make it up.... unless you were JK Rowling.

Melanchon is polling high at the moment (3rd I believe) which is surprising to me, I thought he'd missed a trick. The socialist party (PS) somewhat fell apart after the last elections and I thought Melencon could hoover up the left support if he softened his stance a little. But he didn't, arguably he got more resolutely and harder left.... and proved me wrong!

I frekkin' despair.

Oh indeed. I wasn't intending to suggest there was no such thing. Depends how you define 'conspiracy' of course, and the levels of involvement, but I suspect many aspects of everyday life are prone to them.

With the appearance of the even-righter Zemmor, Le Penn is considered a more acceptable option to voters who don't want to be tarnished with that 'racist' brush. Le Penn has been campaigning hard on the 'rising living costs' theme and promising to do all sorts about it - as if it's not a problem the world over. Indeed France is actually doing rather well in softening those costs. But in a face off, I suspect Macron will win out because (as often happens) voters vote as much 'against' as 'for' in the 2nd round and even those that dislike Macron, and all he stands for, dislike Le Pen even more. Democracy in action I guess.

I tend to believe more in cock-up theory than conspiracy. Sometimes we just get stuff wrong. Sometimes very wrong.

I thought Tielemens made a few passes that just screamed class. He might give the impression sometimes of doing sod all at times but he can still deliver.

Sorry, what was that you said, in another thread, about conspiracy theorists? Their country, their rules I'm afraid.

"singing in tune"?? It's a football match not a bloody glee club! No wonder people don't sing, they're afraid they'll be judged!

What's to say? You've covered it succinctly
