Why they just don't fully get rid of this stupid rule? I know incidents like the one yesterday were given a penalty before and refs/VAR will award a penalty again for the same after the international break but it's just stupid. Just award a penalty when there's a clear scoring opportunity. For decades it worked perfectly like this.

Indeed he does but the fact is he's in a scoring position and with a positional advantage over Burn.

How was that not a penalty for Everton? Even if the attacker's leg goes into the defender's one he's obviously in a far better position and in a better angle than the defender. Am I missing something here?

Can't be match fixing because of the timing. Meslier had other "chances" in the 2nd half if he was involved in match fixing. It was just lack of focus and concentration combined with his awful GK skills. He's simply not a good GK. Some fans defend him because he makes some nice reflex saves from time to time but the truth is everyone is capable to do these spectacular saves even in Sunday league. His positioning, box dominance, ball handling are awful.
