I know that this was in relation to Abdul being a magician. But, we’re an odd fanbase aren’t we? Abdul let himself and us down with performances at the end of the season, but he’s clearly one of our better players. The praise for some players and OTT criticism of others, really blows my mind.

Toxic club - an inconvenient truth about our fans

Let’s say (not that I fully believe it though) that is the case. If we had a proper scouting network, would all of our signings have happened on deadline day in both windows? -
He’s having a very tidy little cameo.

I actually appreciate your reply. I wrote a long response but it still boils down to two key points. We didn’t sign a single player in that time period yet had those insane agent fees - to remind you, we weren’t in the PL during that time so stating “that’s what happens when buying and selling players with EPL pedigree” doesn’t really stack up. Also, another fact that suggests that we’re lazy and sign players from agents rather than traditional or data based scouting - look at the dates of our signings last season. They were all on deadline day (summer and winter windows) - that screams of agents dealing, rather than a considered approach. -

From the BBC - Leicester City FC paid £5.87 million to football agents and intermediaries in the most recent reporting period (February 2025 to February 2026), according to figures released by The FA. This ranked as the third-highest agent fee spend in the Championship for that specific period -
I don’t want to be “that guy” but have to say it, after reading a pretty OTT thread about our part as fans. The years of mis-management and ridiculous wages, to players that never warranted it, will continue to be that dark cloud hanging over us.

Wout Faes signs for Leicester - Official

Hilde coming back is probably a better thing than 90% of the players reporting back for pre-season training. What a horrible group of unprofessional players that we have. -

How about the crazy agent fees paid, yet we didn’t spend a single penny on transfer fees? -
Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager
SafewayFox replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
This is what actually winds me up most about Martin’s appointment, I feel odd saying that out loud. As others have stated, I would haven’t chosen him but I at least thought that the club may have learnt from their mistakes by not trying to get a manager to work with these Sunday league level coaches. If Reeves, Sadler and Hughes are all still here, we’re cooked. -

So play the kids then. Aluko could be an athletic machine, if given the licence to. -

Reeves too. Him being kept on, is criminal. We must have been one of the unfittest squads in the Championship last year. -
I know that we’re not regulated by PSR in League One, but what’s the lads book value? Anyone buying him, is nothing short of a miracle.
-
Fair comment but signing players based on data, then selling for profit is a pretty good model. Leicester/Brentford, will never have the revenue outside of transfers to be bigger than that model.
-
The upside of being run properly. We should be humble enough as a club to want to copy their blueprint, yet we never will.
-
I am dreading this appointment but if he brings in a full back room staff. That is one very small positive, we need to drain the whole coaching staff, fitness, goalkeeping etc etc. Kingy probably only just stays on for consistency. If we spend another season unfit, then surely as fans we could contact trading standards for paying to watch “professional footballers”.

Probably back in Lisbon or wherever. That social media post seems so tone deaf on reflection doesn’t it?
-
I thought the rumour was stated at £10m?
-
TBF, how many clubs in league one less than two years ago, gave this highly rated prospect a PL debut at 15? We are probably hoping for such a big fee but there hasn’t been a precedent for this type of transfer.
-
An even more depressing reality. Thanks mate.
-
Depressing thought……the money we make on Monga will be used to subsidize paying Winks and Jannik their inflated wages 😢
-
You can respect King the player but have doubts over his ability/intentions as a coach. He’s inexperienced but has been part of various coaching set-ups that have commented on the “culture” yet done nothing to change it. The biggest thing for me with our next appointment, clear the decks from a coaching perspective as they’ve underperformed, if King is deemed good enough to keep on, great! If not, thanks for the memories but let’s move forward.

Fatawu was extremely frustrating for most of last season but before his injury in the PL, didn’t he have the highest numbers of completed successful take ons? He will have a very good PL/top European career, whilst we’ll likely be bouncing around League One/Championship during this time period. Some people on here need to give their head a wobble about Abdul - he’s our only senior player, who will make us even a smidge of profit.
-
I completely agree about pace not being the deciding factor, you named some very special players though. For every Hazard, there are 4/5 (if not many more) less technically blessed professionals but they’ve made the cut due to their athleticism.
-
I’ve said numerous times about Monga’s lack of pace. He’s definitely more in the mould of Stephy rather than Abdul from a pace perspective. Monga’s ceiling is still a mystery but one thing for sure, he will be playing at a higher league level than us for the majority of his career.

Might as well just close this thread until half way through pre-season. Whoever the manager is, if they don’t have their full support of coaches and our fitness coach (if you can call him that) is still here, we’re cooked.
