Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
SafewayFox replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
He really is a mocha type of guy isn’t he? -
I couldn’t disagree more. Good managers in any trade surround themselves with people who challenge them, you could argue that inexperienced managers are either naive or egotistical if they don’t have an experienced assistant/group of good coaches. I agree that Ruud is a terrible manager but my point remains, I can’t think of an elite coach/manager, who didn’t have numerous coaches wanting to work with him when taking over a new club.
-
Has a manager with one coach (of his own) ever been a success at any club before? I’m not defending Ruud, he’s absolute pony but curious how him not having a ready made backroom staff wasn’t a red flag to Top.

Imagine being so poorly run that you can’t afford to bin off an inexperienced manager who should be one of the lowest paid bosses in the league? Top and co can blame PSR all they like but how we have the 13th biggest wage bill in the league and serving up this dross, week in, week out is borderline criminal. -
If this season can be summed up by an awful passage of play (there has been many) then it surely is Luke Thomas’ “long throw”. He takes an eternity to set himself up and barely makes the box with his powderpuff throw.
-
Faes is an utter cretin isn’t he?
-
VK kicks the ball like he’s playing out of a bunker and drunk. Who scouted him and thought he would improve us?
-
I hate to jump in on our Jamie but totally agree. We can’t be sentimental anymore, we would be very happy if linked with this version of Vardy and had no previous love for him. He can’t hold the ball up (see Newcastle’s second), he can’t press and has offered zero leadership during this rot.
-
Why is Ruud shaking his head? He picked the same dross the last few games with zero fight, zero creativity yet he expects a different outcome? He’s an absolute dosser and actually preferred Kelly, Levein and Worthington etc….at least we had the odd player that was likable and put in a shift.
-
I don’t think this shines a positive light on Ruud, why not set this standard from day one? Or Winks? One night a week and stay at our training ground, is hardly a big ask nor puts a millionaire out of pocket. Just makes me dislike everything about the club even more than I thought was possible.
-
I love Vardy, genuinely will be gutted to see him go but @Dickov22 is spot on. He can’t press, can’t sprint past 90% of the CB’s he’s up against. Hating the way it’s looking like he will bow out but it’s genuinely best for both parties if we put up the statue and let him have one last big pay day overseas.
-
I came on here just to rant about this. My disdain for everything LCFC/KPFC is at uncharted levels.
-
I really didn’t like Dean Smith as thought he was such a basic manager/coach but I’d take him back in a heartbeat. Ruud is so unimaginative and out of his depth. Imagine watching back the United performance and thinking to make no changes 🤯
-
The club is rotten at the top so getting rid of just Ruud isn’t the answer. However, from a footballing standpoint he needs to go. He isn’t the answer and actually enjoyed Rob Tanner calling out how lightly he’s been let off the hook.
-
I can’t stress how much I hate press conferences, Brendan’s were the same but can someone please tell Ruud to shut up. He talks such nonsense and deflection without any actual ideas but in a polished manner that doesn’t get the criticism it deserves. Get him gone!!
-
Great post mate. The question is, will Forest (lesser extent Fulham) get found out like we did?! When you know a teams best attack is counter attacking, I don’t know why the opposition don’t cotton on sooner and just let them have the ball and drop 5 yards.
-
Is that a gut feeling mate?! The thought of Ruud here for pre-season fills me with all sorts of genuine worry for our short term future.
-
Another reason that Top/Rudkin quite frankly anyone associated to LCFC wind me up. Getting the right manager AND a quality back room staff is hugely important. We do so many things on the cheap minus how much we pay the useless to55ers (playing squad) per week.
-
I don’t think you can say that they’ve been lucky but similar to our title winning season (to a much lesser extent obviously 😎) other clubs haven’t done themselves justice by not just sitting and let them have the ball. Their style of football (counter attacking) isn’t sustainable long term and if they make Europe next season, could genuinely see them struggle if they have injuries to their key players.

If he stays on and is our manager for the first game in the Championship. I genuinely don’t say this as hyperbole but can’t see us being in the top half of the table. Momentum/confidence is one of the biggest things in football at all levels and ours will be at non existent. -
I was genuinely adamant it was Barnes but back when we were half decent. I used to love playing Brighton when they played Burns at LB and remember us scoring quite a few times from cut backs against them (from his side).
-
No knock on Dan Burn but that’s another testament to how far we’ve fallen. Will always remember the run around Barnes gave Burn for Brighton a few years ago. Back to Jannik, we’re stuck with the big lump until his contract runs out aren’t we? If we re-sign a single crop of our players outside BEK and Mads, then we deserve everything that comes our way.

I can’t shake the mentality that with both Cooper and Ruud (with no back room team) that you reap what you sow. We went for cheap options and you get cheap/poor results. I dislike everything about our club right now. -
Extremely sad. Ruud’s management of him really wind me up too. Daka was poor yesterday but honestly think the way Enzo rotated last season would have got more out of Vardy this time round. Him staying on for full 90 minutes so much is criminal from our inept coach.

We’re just embarrassing ourselves now. No action in the summer and we deserve everything that comes our way.
