Did we get a statement before we had the Prems pants down?
-
This is a key thing for me. For me we should be loaning any of our players to Championship sides that are looking to get promoted and put obligations to buy on promotion clauses much like we had with Fatawu. If we had that with Souttar, despite him now being injured, we could have had a guarantee of getting our money back if they secured promotion. Now we don't even know if we'll get the same calibre of player we loaned out after he recovers from his injury. Plus even if he did and we go down and they go up, they'll be in a position to get a better deal cos they know we'll be keen to sell. Development loans are different of course, but that's not what we're doing here.

I'm not entirely convinced that Okoli is a bad buy tbh, £12mill on 25k a week. Certainly when he was paired with Faes under Cooper he didn't look like the one making us weak at the back. Apart form the cup game vs Man Utd of course, which may have been Ruuds first, and lasting impression of him. Skipp though was a total pisstake. I don't really understand us paying that kind of fee for anybody that another premier league club WANTS to get rid of. And in a position we were relatively well stacked in anyway. No club should be paying market value or above for anyone that the parent club actually wants to sell. Can only imagine the narrative that Skipp took Winks place in the Spurs side initially meant he must be worth more.

7 minutes....

Watch him miss K guess not...
-
At least that's a comparison. Using a covering loan vs a 8-9mill purchase is a ridiculous exercise in stick beating. Skipp for £20mill vs Hutchinson for £20mill is a comparison if you want to have a pop at the recruitment.

If we let him go on loan we should give him to Sheffield Utd to replace the injured Souttar. If they get promoted and he is a regular they'd buy him. And if not we get to see his champ credentials.

So Gordon got his nose taken off yesterday by Kulusevski who got nothing on the ball. "Coming together". Delap doesn't even get touched does he?
-
Agree that we play passive. But that's down to instruction isn't it? They're not doing it because of a lack of desire, everybody wants to win. And ultimately we're not good enough defensively to play that way because individual errors keep popping up, rather than not being arsed.
-
Pen all day.
-
So you think it's a lack of desire rather than a lack of ability? If they all had "Pashun" would we be sitting comfortably mid table?
-
Ok, we signed Bilal. Who wins?
-
No they weren't.
-
Fair point
-
Out of favour. Last start was in November in a game they lost. He's had 1 minute in their last 5 games.
-
Marseille are sending him back.
-
They're only going to want to loan him aren't they? In which case, get fxxked.

Whilst I am firmly not in the "Bring Cannon Back" brigade, I think it's a tad unfair to compare their champ seasons given Daka was playing in the best side in the league and having watched Stoke in a number of matches this season, he's been playing in a side that makes our current prem team look adventurous going forward. They're horrible. Or at least they were before the sacked Pelach. For me if we can get back what we bought him for minimum, then sell on the basis that we can use that money to buy someone in for the backline rather than a backup striker who may never kick a ball for us.
-
To be fair though he's not putting up mind blowing numbers in the championship and if he weren't a Liverpool player but spent his career at Boro he'd still be a full Scotland International and £15mill would likely be seen as a fair price. Put it this way, is he doing any more than Fatawu was?

No preseason, no signings, injuries to key players and some shit fixtures at the most congested time of year. It was always going to be rough. Anybody harking for Cooper needs to lay off the crack pipe. -
This is the view of a Fan pundit (whatever the fxxk that means) from football league world. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/coventry-city-milan-van-ewijk-galatasaray-january-sale/ Coventry City urged to cash in on Milan van Ewijk Despite starting every league game for Coventry so far this campaign, Murphy believes the club should still be looking to move the 24-year-old on for his poor performances, with the full-back touted to join Turkish giants Galatasaray. Speaking to Football League World, Murphy said: “Milan van Ewijk was great last season. He had a few dips in form here and there, but it was expected during his first season in English football, but when he got going, he was a very fast, attacking player, but for some reason, this season, he has shown none of that. “Whenever he gets the ball, instead of looking to create an attack, he will turn back and pass it back to the defenders or even the goalkeeper, and then the opposition can press on us and get on the front foot, so his game has changed completely, and he’s a massive problem for us. “He was a big outlet last season, with a lot of our attacks coming from down the right-hand side. Now we haven’t got anything down both flanks. With Haji Wright out injured and Ephron Mason-Clark missing, the creativity from the left has been killed, so we are now relying on something from the right, and if van Ewijk isn’t on it, then it’s non-existent.” Murphy added: “Right now, Van Ewijk is the most frustrating player to watch at Coventry City, especially how well he played last season compared to now. It’s all passing backwards and it’s like he’s petrified to try and take anyone on and make a mistake. “If an offer came in with profit for Van Ewijk right now, then I would snap their hands off. We need wholesale changes at this club and some change of personnel, otherwise the mentality of the side is going to stay the same, and Van Ewijk is one of few players we could probably make a profit on. “I would take that profit and look to buy a couple of players with it because we will be making a loss with him if he carries on playing like he is. “He would be on the bench for me if we had anyone else to bring in, but we don’t, so I’d try and sell him and bring in two players in his position to add a bit of competition, or bring a single player in his position and then a left-wing back to try and get two attacking full-backs in order to make us harder to defend against, because right now it’s not working and something needs to change.” Despite being prominent in Frank Lampard’s plans so far, it appears Van Ewijk is only making consistent appearances due to the lack of competition in the Coventry squad. His confidence has undoubtedly been shattered given such a poor first half of the season, and supporters are clearly growing frustrated with his lack of ability to turn his performances around. A move away in January could be just what Van Ewijk needs to restore some confidence into his game while being in a new environment, and Coventry would welcome funds in order to add more creativity to the squad to push themselves up the table. If a move to Galatasaray does develop, then Coventry should do what they can to push it through and swap an out-of-sorts figure for younger and hungrier players who can have a positive impact for the remainder of the season.

But what's his ceiling? -
Imagine being Armstrong giving her the shirt!
-
Positives were the goal obviously, but also his defensive work goes unnoticed it seems. Saying that he was close to giving away a pen. People slate Ayew for slowing things down, but Mav does it whenever he gets the ball. Slows down to almost stop to come inside and run into trouble. Also doesn't seem to be forging any kind of understanding or partnership with anyone he plays with. Though the personnel in that regards are changing a bit.

Put fxxking Skipp at right back. Something weird might happen.
