Yeah but what do they know?

He'll shock the world, not just Barnet.

Summer 2022 priorities (and realistic options)

He’s not related to Ben is he? -
We aren’t noticing them though are we? Other clubs are.

Can’t see Chelsea doing anything with him until they’ve sorted their own situation at the back. They’re losing Rudiger, Christensen, Azpilicueta and Alonso from that backline, so they’re not going to let Colwill go until they’ve got the cover in. If there’s any truth in the Soyuncu interest then maybe work him in a deal.

Backed to what extent and crap in what manner? In January they paid 25m for Digne, Cout and Olsen on loan and Chambers for free. This window they’ve got Cout permanent for 18m and Kamara on a free. So up until this signing they hadn’t spent particularly big on any one player nor spent big over a number of signings. The two players they’ve spent money on improve their first 11 and are by no means overpriced. If you think he’s been crap with transfers I don’t know where you’re coming from. If you think Villa have been crap under him, that’s a different argument but he doesn’t seem to have been backed any more than most managers have for a club that size.

I can’t see any reason for him coming to us. If he wants to play the highest level, then he wants a CL club. If he wants to just play regularly and give himself the best chance of playing for Denmark with the upcoming World Cup, then he’ll stick with Brentford. If there’s any sentiment involved in his decision he’ll either stay put because Brentford gave him the opportunity or he’ll go back to Spurs, as they’re his former club and after a rocky start under Conte in Italy he got the confidence of the manager and now knows if Conte wants him then he’ll have a key role. If there’s no sentiment involved then he’s going wherever the money is. And I have my doubts we’ll be the highest bidder in that case. I think the opportunity went in January.

Perhaps Konsas knee is worse than first thought.

I’ve only seen a few highlights of the lad, but so far I think he looks a bit…. …. …… seems there’s no dog poop emoji.

Given their form since January, that’s a bold statement.

Yep. Perez replacement with the width coming from a Ricardo overlap. -
What does everybody think about making this kind of announcement though? On the one hand I suppose you’re telling people there’s an opportunity for them. On the other, you’re devaluing the player in a roundabout way as you’re saying we don’t want him. So whilst it might increase the chance of a move (and I say might as you’d expect his agent is doing that job already) it almost definitely reduces their market value. In the case of Vestegaard I’m all for it as you can’t get lower than zero.

I just said that in the Aouar thread.

Do Lyon need a recent French title winning young central midfielder for the squad who just so happens to have been recently made available?
-
Chelsea are gonna need defenders.
-
Maybe we’re hoping that we get a Van Dijk and a Mané, instead of a van shite and Manky.

There’s no Saliba in that post though! -
So a Youri sale could effectively get Aouar and Lookman in. Wages be damned!

They’ll be managerless by Christmas!

James justin receives first international call up

Surprised he’s in ahead of Mitchell tbh. Before his injury I was touting him to be a dark horse for our Euro squad because his versatility means as a back up he covers both fullback positions allowing us to not have to omit any of the Grealish/Foden/Mount/Maddison stack. But obviously he got the injury and we took 458 right backs. Hopefully he can show Gareth his pre injury form while he’s in the camp and make a good impression. -
Exactly right. We’re at the end of the season with little to play for and he probably already has a good idea who will be putting in firm bids for him. Last thing he wants is an injury that puts him out and scuppers a move he’s obviously been looking at for a long while. I’d imagine Brendan would have challenged him on that and that’s why he’s been left out since.
-
He might want to stay in France but currently that doesn’t seem to be an option. If we were interested it could be a straight up choice of joining us or playing for a manager who clearly doesn’t rate him at Arsenal.
-
Gonna be mad seeing him line up with De Ketalaire, Madueke and Berardi next season.

You can’t really make an informed decision on a defender based on a 5 minute YouTube video.
