How does Chelsea spending £40mill on a player they don't need feel like a workaround? There's nobody coming the other way.

I think in 2 parts, he's booted the ball away for a goal kick and looks like he's going down before the contact. One of the replays looked more conclusive than others, he's falling into the defender. From the back it looks like the defender catches him with his right foot, from another angle it doesn't look like he touches him. Odd one. Don't think any replay looks conclusive so probably should stick to the original decision, Ref must've thought he fell into him. In addition, McKennie seems to have put on some pudding.

If there is any truth in it, it'd probably be because both he and Gordon are at their best as left wingers which makes Barnes an expensive backup for where Newcastle are currently with their financials. Added to the fact he's an injury risk.

It'd be great to have Barnes back in a way but Mavididi deserves his chance to carry on what he's done for us. Wings aren't important right now. I'd imagine most people are happy with our current first choice wingers, so depth is needed but not someone to take the place of one of our better performers. We have more pressing areas of the pitch to look at, and we'd probably need that loan spot.

No. He broke through into Puels Nice side that got into the CL at a young age and was a surprise player who despite not being the tallest looked like he'd have a promising career if his initial performances were an indication. Seems they weren't. He scored on his debut and there was a lot of buzz but he found himself out of the squad in the second half of the season. He's played 1 full season really in his career. At Chelsea he's often looked like a deer in the headlights with the game maybe being too fast for him. I'd dabble on a free.
