His best game was at fullback imo. He did well when put at centreback too, but he likes to roam forward and struggled to maintain his positioning, curbing his instincts. But against Watford you can get away with that to an extent.

Whoever gets Mané probably has to pay double the cost of Youri in wages and they get no resale value on a 30 year old. His sale price isn’t all that relevant.

I think Liverpool is a good fit in some ways but I think they’d struggle on the wages. Which makes you wonder how the hell Barca can get him.

I think it might just come down to who shows that they want him. He’s supposed to be our main target (certainly the only one we’re looking to make a solid offer for atm) whereas he might just be on Milan’s radar and they have other priorities. If that’s the case then we play on that and make it known he’s our preference and we want it done asap. Then you don’t get lead on while the player weighs up the Milan move.

I don’t think we have tried cheaping out, the loans have been brought in because we didn’t get our targets. Trincao, Berardi and Madueke never went anywhere so we had to bring someone in. So we had a look at Under and Lookman. They weren’t the original targets. More like security.

I’d say the worrying thing about that (aside from us being lumped with.. well, a lump) is that although it’s a panic signing it’s also a player we were following for a number of years. Throw in that we were apparently willing to offer £40mill for Trincao 2 seasons ago, and were thankfully knocked back, and now we’re seeing that the winger is perhaps not all that suited to the premier league (you could argue that’s Lage’s fault) and then the fact we came close to signing Edouard last summer, but moved onto Daka. French Ed hasn’t nailed down a starting position for Palace and they were crying out for a striker to step up, and it’s Mateta, a player whose career in this league was seemingly over, who has cemented himself into Vieras plans. So again, not a great reflection of who we are targeting, with the only argument being that Rodgers might have done more with them. But the Vestegaard signing gives that argument less credence.

With what?

A number of Man Utd fans have wanted him back in their side for some time. Saying that, when that means replacing one of Fred or McTominay it’s not necessarily a great indictment of Garners ability, more a damning one of theirs.

Sarr suffers from being heavily reliant on the one foot, like our Kel and Hudson-Odoi. They’re good with it, but they’re hapless when the shoes on the other foot.

In order to get him. Arsenal can’t afford to wait until he’s free as they’ll likely get competition they can’t beat.
