Mads is class and worked brilliantly in Enzos system. However, at Prem level, no amount of shot stopping and being good with your feet as a goalkeeper makes up for the lack of quality in front of you. You can play incredibly and still ship a load of goals, as we saw in the Arsenal game last season. Get some of that money spent on making the rest of the team better, get a strong spine, and having a more solid unit in front with a marginally worse keeper should be better long term. Maybe that's thinking too far ahead? Here's hoping.

There may well be an element of Marti saying he wants a few key players in and it was thought better to get this deal done for a few million less and get Cifuentes targets in rather than hardball it, keeps Mads but have Marti frustrated at not getting his men in.
