  1. I never apportioned blame solely on Vestergaard. I commented that as the left sided centre back, when you look at where the goal was scored from, that is the space occupied by the left centre half/left back. So you have to look at Thomas. You have to look at Faes as he was closer. But this also means Vestergaard was out of position (as was Faes). It was all of them who didn’t deal with it.
  2. He really isn’t! People are blinded by his ability to pick a pass. He is slow, has a lack of awareness, can’t win a header against guys a foot shorter than him and gets outmuscled by the same guys a foot smaller than him. He has been responsible for a number of goals against already. Even the Stoke goal yesterday, the scorer had a free header from exactly the spot the left centre back should be covering and Vestergaard was nowhere to be seen.
  3. I know Wednesday are bad but Utd created some seriously good chances on top of the goals. Their finishing was actually very mixed. Cannon should have scored before he did and the overload towards the end (Bamford flick). We will need to improve our ability to defend next week or we could be in bother!
  4. Already corrected myself above Was a bad miss before to be fair. Too heavy a touch and let the chance get away. Cracking finish after though. What we saw with us really.
  5. Cannon has now fired.
  6. Cannon misfiring!
  7. I mean it’s all very transparent. It’s about actual actions, not ones that are for show.
  8. Ah ok. It didn’t suggest a visit with imminent when he did the interview. How kind of him to show up…
  9. Might be too young and inexperienced given our needs right now, but Harley Mills at Peterborough seems to be well thought of there, only 20. I can’t say I know much about him but they do seem a good club for developing players who go on to much higher levels. They are the sort of punts we need to go back to anyway, whether he’s good enough I don’t know.
  10. What a crap rule anyway. Given the officials at all levels find it impossible to be consistent, how can you impose more punishment? It’d bad enough players have to miss games for accruing yellows where they are dubious or inconsistent.
  11. Which year is this from then given he is supposedly stuck in Thailand!
  12. I would think Cartwright could do a job in the EFL at a higher level than Newport to be fair. He has already made more of an impression at Falkirk than Braybrooke did at Dundee. That said, I agree we should get him back from Falkirk, if the terms of the loan allow as you have alluded to with Braybrooke. Not that I think they should be obliged to play him more as all teams should be free to select their line ups as they see fit. However, nor should we be obliged to leave him there if he is only getting 15/20 minutes. Our interest should be getting him where he can play more, regardless of whether it disrupts Falkirk.
  13. Agree with this. Ideally, you need someone who has played at a good level as well as some sort of track record at management. I don’t mind if that is someone who has managed in L1 (Challinor and Wellens) but as you say, they don’t have the playing career to get respect from our dossers so if you got Wellens for example, it needs to be a long term view and back him over the players. RVN had the playing career but was a bad tactician and a loose cannon. But at least could turn around to this lot and point out they aren’t fit to clean his boots as a player! To be fair, Cifuentes doesn’t have any of it, playing career, record in management (like a Mowbray type does) or enough tactical nouse.
  14. There was the ‘bouncing day’ game a few years back, when Utd did Wednesday 4-2 at Hillsborough. I think that was when Utd had just been promoted from L1 and were the underdogs. And before Wednesday imploded. Possible Wednesday had come off a play off campaign. If I recall, that was followed by a few drab 0-0’s. So yeah, it would be good if it’s a lively and fun watch. ‘If’ we were to get a deduction, Utd could be battling us to avoid the bottom 3 so a Wednesday win would be preferred.
  15. Good couple caught there 👏
  16. So…Steel City derby. We wanting a Wednesday result I guess?
  17. Whilst not far from me, I don’t know much about Clowne other than it is the cheapest square on the Sheffield Monopoly board and the square is sponsored by Biffa bins waste company. Enjoy your trip to Clowne
  18. Pleased for him and hope it can spark something, for the good of our prospects this season and for his own next summer. I did feel for him, early in the second half, pressing like mad on his own, closing down, forced them to hit it long and the likes of Skipp, Faes, Vestergaard just doing nothing to prevent Begavic having to save us seconds later before they score after the subsequent corner, as yet again, Faes and Vestergaard can’t be arsed to do basic defending!
  19. An undeserved win and a narrow win over an awful, awful Norwich side don’t change anything. These aren’t exciting and the start of something. They are just isolated results, meaningless in the long run as the way the team is being set up and managed is atrocious. I can’t stand many of these players but the fact we haven’t put a single good 90 minute performance is really poor. Still just looking if we can get to 60 points (safety net in the event of a deduction).
  20. It’s inevitable before we can look forward. We can circle the drain for a couple of years or so or just get it done.
  21. We’d have been too snobby to go for him. We prefer style (if you can call it that) over substance (results).
  22. Could do with a Preston winner here. We need to keep the likes of Blackburn at arms length, particularly if a deduction is coming…
  23. Nope, look at the clubs who opposed this. The ones that are actually well run. That is very telling. That is why Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Leeds voted against
  24. We will be in the early 20,000’s attendance for the coming years so it’d be poor timing. We need to show we are a serious football club as at the moment, we look like we are closer to administration than the PL.
  25. Interesting. As per my post above, for gas and electric, we use local guys in our village. But I put in the ‘houses’ thread about getting an extension recently and mentioned in passing that the preferred builder I have found was sourced from CheckaTrade and a couple of people picked up on that and warned against. As far as I was concerned, they have been very helpful and responsive, and have provided a very detailed quote, itemised down to everything you could think of. It has almost made me doubt them even though my own gut instinct is good. I think the best think, which is good practice anyway, is that I will just ask the guy I am in touch with to direct me to any similar jobs done locally. What sort of level jobs have you sourced via there?
