  1. He didn’t pass it. He cut out the ball, it was an interception that went loose. Nobody else did anything to react.
  2. How was it his fault? He cut out the initial ball but Ayew was nowhere to be seen. Thomas couldn’t help being out of position and then Vestergaard and Hamza did the rest!
  3. Is this thread active because anybody is actually surprised? Interesting to see the tidy turning but not sure where all this support for him was previously.
  4. Silly of them to sign the contracts. They could have gotten much better pathways to first team football elsewhere.
  5. No way. Paid a lot yes. That is it.
  6. I’m not sure I have ever seen a line up and been so unenthusiastic about watching us. Literally anything else will do over watching this lot tonight.
  7. This is unusual type wording in a manager announcement right? following a thorough recruitment process led by Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, and Global Technical Director, George Syrianos
  8. Decent at this level and as said above, in form. You’d be silly to not take any in form striker seriously. I know what you’ll say, there’s a difference between taking seriously and fearing. The fearing part comes from the fact we have a centre back partnership who can’t even perform at this level and they are coming up against a striker who clearly can and will bully them.
  9. Bloated, awful and imbalanced all link in for me. In theory, we probably have a reasonably balanced squad, 3 GK’s, 4/5 CB’s (when Souttar is fit), 2 LB’s, 4 CM’s, 2/3 AM’s, enough wingers, 3 st’s. But yeah, I get your point. New signings now would bloat the squad and we have so much deadwood still, we need to shift before we buy really.
  10. I agree about this even up to Carranza at the top of the pitch who was bullied off the ball easily. Just an observation later in the game that thy got a free kick, out on their wide left. I can’t remember who it was of us, Ricardo I think, and I thought it was quite literally no different to the fair challenge on Carranza in the build up to their goal. Neither a free kick but just showed what we are dealing with, with the officials in this league.
  11. We got relegated at the worst possible time and we are currently making a mess of getting promoted at the worst time as well. If some of these established sides come back down, it’s going to be a much stronger Championship next season so we could really do with not being in it…
  12. Don’t, just don’t Don’t get @murphy started either
  13. Gk - yeah I’m not sure but I do think Stolarcryk is a good keeper and gets unfair criticism on here so I’ll go him. RB - Yep, not question to be asked. CB - Vestergaard and Faes are awful and have no business even playing for us at this level. I’m was going off starters so didn’t included our reserves. LB - agreed. But Dasilva is shocking so I went with Thomas as best of a bad bunch. CM - Grimes over Torp? Not sure. I’d go Torp and James. AM - can’t believe I forgot Rudoni. Good call and I agree. Wingers - Yeah you have agreed with my choices but strong options for both. St - no question. We have nobody in that position fit to clean Wright’s boots.
  14. Bit of a vague description. Does others mean any others, all others or somewhere between? The ones you have mentioned probably walk into any others in the league which is fair enough. But there are other solid performers like Stolarcryk who might not be great every game but probably walks into the majority of sides at this level.
  15. It was a Leicester/Cov 11 and the alternative was Jay Dasilva… Edit - I’m not sure what Thomas has done to you but I’m not sure, with respect, that you are the most balanced on the subject.
  16. Rushworth Can Ewijk Thomas Kitching Dasilva Torp Grimes Sakamoto Thomas-Asante Mason-Clark Wright A serious combination is probably Keeper - I haven’t seen much of Rushworth so maybe Stolarcryk Ricardo B Thomas Kitching L Thomas - Da Silva was awful against us Torp James Fatawu Thomas-Asante Sakamoto Wright
  17. Looks like his return at Las Palmas was poor to be fair. Hindsight I guess. But yeah, signing him for free rather than Carranza would have been better as Daka and Ayew would leave, new signings and McBurnie becomes a squad player. But I guess not on the radar at the time.
  18. There’d have been absolute uproar had we been linked with McBurnie but there he is, 3rd highest scorer…
  19. 🔔🔔🔔. Let the next round commence
  20. Ironically I think I may have been one who said that about him . I am generally quite patient and give players many chances before judging them! Rare of me to do mind, particularly those who seem to work hard and care at least, like Justin, Thomas, even Daka. I usually save my dislike for those who genuinely don’t give a shit, like Faes, Vestergaard, Soumare. Even Ayew and BDR, I don’t want them here but don’t dislike them. I am very indifferent and they just aren’t the type of signings I want to see here.
  21. Can’t include the Sheffield United loan in fairness in my opinion. They were in the PL for starters and were absolute whipping boys. Didn’t they get to nearly Christmas before winning a game? And that wasn’t on Thomas. He then moved on loan to Middlesbrough the second half of that season didn’t he and that is where you’d have expected more from him and to really stake his claim. They were quite settled at this level. I suspect though after relegation with us and the nightmare scenario in the first half of that season at Blades, he was just shot mentally. He could have done with a full season loan at a Championship club in my view. Personally I think there’s a lot of water under the bridge here now. From his point of view, the new contract whilst offering him financial security isn’t really a positive career move. I think he’d have been better off having a clean break and trying to find a home elsewhere. I’m not defending him in saying he is good enough for us, purely adding balance and things aren’t black and white. You could put him in many other Championship sides and he may be just fine with the right manager and players around. Lets be fair, we are an absolutely basket case and have been since he first broke through.
  22. Ultimately, fans care about what they see on the pitch right? I think this is why more and more are now questioning this ongoing selection as Faes and Vestergaard are stinking the place out. I also question how Vestergaard can be training better when he has to walk his dog first I agree with the reason being un-football related, I.e playing certain players or the ones being paid more. And yeah, Nelson actually doesn’t even need to be ‘good’ to be better than the current incumbents, merely average will do….
  23. I mean, managers and coaching staff aren’t always right. Do we think Amartey was better and more suited than Soyuncu or was it a really odd decision by Rodgers? And you don’t get tactical familiarity through not playing either. And whatever the tactics, I’d seriously question how familiar Faes and Vestergaard are given the performances they are turning in week in week out! I know love a good devils advocate and balanced viewpoint . But there’s more to it than that mate, come on! Personally I can’t see past it being a case of playing the more expensive players, on the biggest wages, simple as. Or Nelson has a shit attitude. Which isn’t something that has ever come up from his managers when out on loan who rave about him.
  24. I have never met the guy I just get tired of negative hyperbole. I will call things as they are. He’s a bang average championship player. Good enough for where we want to be? No. Typical of where we are going. Unfortunately yes. As I said, to say he is league 1 or relegation fodder indicates there are 20 odd lefts backs in this league right now, who would get into our side. That itself is a very worrying yet delusional thought. He absolutely needs upgrading with someone better and more suited to our needs and style. But we can say this without shitting all over the guy.
  25. No, he hasn’t had any minutes for 2 months or so. It’d be disastrous to bring him in from the cold like that.
