That's good point that have been overlooked. It's possible he have been advised to deliver a strong performance to make himself more marketable, without any long-term commitments.

He's not going to choose Ward over Mads, I doubt even Rodgers would. I also doubt there’s a club in today's market willing to pay what we're asking for Mads.

He's talented but still quite raw, which is understandable given his age. Without a buy option, though, this deal seems unfavorable. We're essentially developing Brighton's talent for them while also freeing up a spot in their squad.
