  1. Ended up watching the M 10.000m final and it was enthralling. Never thought I'd feel that way for such a long running distance.
  2. Sure, but my question was regarding any min or max amount at the start of the race. Obviously they will want to minimise fuel load, and assuming differences in fuel efficiency, some cars will have a significant advantage at the start of the race - all else being equal. This would be similar to gaining an advantage through excessive tyre wear surely.
  3. This was my first, and so far only, race I've seen in person. Belgian GP as well.
  4. I guess I object to the unfairness of wearing down tyres 'too much'. In some way it feels equivalent to gaining an advantage from damaging your car. But I've also found doping rules in other sports to be bizarre when the offending substance is not beneficial for performance.
  5. I understand it's a big part and I don't contest the decision. But I never imagined wearing tyres down to such a degree would prove advantageous. The dropoff in grip and performance has always been massive - up until yesterday. Russell wasn't the only one to pull off a 1 stopper, so you'd think others would be caught with too low weight as well. The reason I ask about the weight rule is because it's surely to make sure the chassis and mechanical components (i.e. what the manufacturer controls) meets the same minimum requirements. So if a car manages to perform even with seemingly terrible tyres, why should that be more punishable than having a chassis with less drag or an engine with more performance, especially if that is a conscious design/strategy choice? Out of curiosity, are there also rules for fuel burning efficiency? I.e. could the starting weight of two cars with identical chassises/drivers be different because of fuel load assuming one engine is more efficient than the other?
  6. Yeah so Wolff is blaming himself/the team for not calculating that a one stop would likely mean the weight would be an issue. It's all a bit arbitrary though.
  7. I can understand the physics, but it seems bizarre if the tire weight (which is identical for all teams when fresh) can be reason for disqualification. Why is the car weighed with tires is what I'm asking? It would get rid of all the 'gamesmanship' of picking up rubber during the in lap (which must give an advantage to the winner).
  8. Can't quite understand the rules here. What does Russell's car being too light imply? That they stripped the car of some weight? Toto Wolff seems to think the tires was a factor, but that seems a bit silly that the weight of the tires should matter at all? The way Wolff takes the blame suggests it was somehow avoidable, but what exactly does he mean by that?
  9. Hermansen and...?
  10. Raikhy and Pennant surely moving on then if they're not even in the first XI
  11. I'm Attilan the mods about this racial slur
  12. As much as our recruitment has been heralded over the years, you can question it in the same amount. The recruitment with Maresca was decent - even the less successful signings like Doyle, Casadei, Cannon and Akgün were not terrible or useless. Besides the manager, what's the big difference between 22/23 and 23/24 from a recruitment perspective?
  13. Yeah, replacing Fofana with Faes and then identifying Souttar as a strengthening only to let him rot after a few app's.
  14. Ironically, if do one better than last time - i.e. sell TWO Danish goalies in one window - Ward is still likely to be on the bench at best.
  15. You have it in for him, clearly. As for the verdicts of media on the incident, it's so obviously on Verstappen. One has to be far up Max's bumhole to not see it. He overshot by quite a margin, and while Hamilton arguably could've avoided contact, it's still all Verstappen's fault. He does it time and again, unpunished as well - it's reckless and he was extremely fortunate not to take himself and Hamilton out. I'm becoming more and more sceptical and question the motives of the stewards. Can't help but feel that more crashes means more action in an otherwise largely excitement free sport, which will appeal to a certain market over yonder...
  16. The guy is at Juve, just spent a good season at Frosinone, so why would a newly promoted team in England, with a likely points penalty all but ensuring a relegation battle be that appealing? On top of that, there's the style of football, culture and language which would not be ideal I imagine. It would mainly be for the salary then...
  17. Happy Fox indeed
  18. Good looking young man, fast driver, races fair, rarely whines or complains, light-hearted, loyal to McLaren, outwardly patient and humble, a team player, respected by other drivers, often brutally honest and with high expectations of himself. Can see plenty of reasons why he has fans.
  19. Yeah, obviously he was frustrated and snappy. Clearly misunderstood Hamilton's intentions.
  20. It's not about belief, it's about pragmatism and responsible spending. We've already been saddled with this yet unknown penalty because of careless spending and gross mismanagement. I should hope they've learnt their lesson. If we start on -6/-12 points, we will have a serious handicap and the probability is that we won't make it. They surely have to take this into account and plan accordingly. You could very well argue that it's more prudent to be sensible this year where the odds are stacked against us than it is to take a massive gamble that could easily backfire and set us back years or more... It doesn't mean we shouldn't spend, but the wise money is buying players that will want to be here regardless of which league we're in (i.e. young players with potential at like £5-15m like Hermansen, Okoli, Mavididi, Fatawu etc) and loaning in players that can give us the necessary quality and depth to hopefully survive.
  21. Yeah but Danny Ward's opinion is not one I'd care much about
  22. If all else fails, we could surely coax Stearman out of retirement or shell out 30k for Liam Moore
  23. I don't see us actually in for O'Riley. We will be careful with our spending as we will likely get relegated this season - which O'Riley wouldn't want to stick around for, surely. I suspect we'll do a lot of loan business to avoid being lumbered with expensive contracts and even more trouble with PSR whether PL or EFL - and spending big on O'Riley is the opposite of a prudent approach.
  24. I read that Everton are trying to sign Lindstrøm from Napoli on loan. We should definitely be all over that one too. Surprised he's available. Other hot prospects in Denmark currently are Elias Jelert (fullback) and Orri Oskarsson (striker) who looks a shit hot prospect, and of course Roony Bardghji, but he's likely destined for bigger things. All are at FC Copenhagen, so they wouldn't be cheap by Nordic standards.
