  1. I'll let the residents debunk this one. It's not been easy to replace good players leaving each year, i.e. Henry's goals, Mercier's assists.
  2. Yeah, he's definitely not worth the price tag for most teams, but again, this is highly inflated due to it being a PL to PL transfer. When you look at Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, it's also difficult to see a £100+ mil player there.
  3. We could just loan him back out to Serie A after 6 months.
  4. Inler, Dragovic, Hernandez, Iborra, Kramaric, Slimani, Ghezzal.... the list of recent *high profile* failures/underwhelming signings is a very long one.
  5. Not sure the Euros should be used as a yardstick.
  6. And Amartey, Paintsil (and even Elvis Hammond if we're talking internationals), probably more. It was likely a joke that went over my head
  7. Feels like a bizarre move. You're 33, got promoted to La Liga and ended the season just passed as top scorer. He must have a deal lined up already...
  8. I would've been close to assaulting her right there and then. Not even apologizing, her explanation, making an illegal and dangerous move in traffic and being blasé about the damage would make me blow my lid off. Sorry about your car, mate. Heartbreaking way to lose it if it's a write-off.
  9. Getting close to old man talk. Lord knows some of the tournaments in the 80s and 90s were pretty dreadful. This is classic international football - with the 00's and 10's giving us a handful of exciting/excellent teams and decent stories, but otherwise pretty mediocre or underwhelming quality on show.
  10. Whatever thorn you have in your side, no amount of copium will make it better.
  11. The Germans got two controversial calls against Denmark. What's your point? I don't think there can be any doubt that Spain have been the best team in the tournament.
  12. Guess De La Fuente is just as good with his subs. Funny, the parallels between the Spain and England first choice strikers. Great goal.
  13. You've 'looked' poor all tournament, yet you're still in the final and all level after 80 mins against the only team to win every game. I don't like the style, I agree Kane's been shocking, but Southgate and his team deserve probably a bit more respect than they get. Calling for him to be sacked during a final is pathetic.
  14. He had Silva, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Foden who would all perform well. It's no-one's fault really.
  15. He just can't win with some of you lot. Most managers would get praise if the subs produce the goods. He'll end up winning that elusive title and you will still want him sacked.
  16. BBC site updates: Chris Sutton praises Walker and says he was best player of first half, shutting down Williams. Next update: Spain 1-0 England (Williams)
  17. Pogacar seems untouchable this year. Mind you, people said the same of Jonas last year. Great ding dong battles between these two. Incredible that a supreme rider like Remco will likely only end up being second fiddle behind these two. Gotta love Pogi though - he's such a spectacular rider and a bubbly character.
  18. Janice Cayman just scored an own goal for Belgium
  19. I'm shocked it's been so long. I remember the early days well. Thanks @Mark your forum has been indispensable for an 'exile' like me! And a big thanks again for the shirt you donated after the title win Did you ever consider walking away from the forum during those 20 years? How much time would you say you've dedicated to the site (like average hours per week)? In your opinion, what's the secret behind the forum's success? Edit: Maybe you should do a Q&A thread to mark (pun intended) the occasion
  20. Wilf is still a solid player. Last year he was surprisingly effective in Enzo's system, keeping out Casadei (recruited for this specific role) who was surely Enzo's man. If we can utilise his strengths in Cooper's system, then he will be a great asset. He's also one of the older and experienced heads who's won things with us - he is important for the club culture and the dressing room. Thumbs up from me.
  21. Klopp would be the perfect coach for them. Surely he would win over the hearts and imagination of the country.
  22. Zlatan was easily one of the best strikers of his generation. He produced for every single team he played for. Even his underwhelming spell with Barcelona was productive. As for Sweden, they would literally not have qualified for major tournos without him. I think he delivered as well as he could for that team. I don't like the guy, he's got razers on his elbows and obviously has an inflated ego, but he was world class, absolutely.
  23. A bit late to the party, but was inspired to pick this up thanks to this thread. Taking my sweet time to drink it all in, so still not finished with Act 1. Impressive game! Still have to get acquainted with all the adaptations of 5e rules, but think they've done a decent job. It's so convenient not having to track all the bonuses manually
