I don't have it to hand but I remember reading that the deal Newcastle offered to Forest for Wood was absolutely absurd and they couldn't believe that Forest accepted it -

Pertinent post from that thread: Club revenues are directly controlled by the Premier League and their client broadcasters through the UK TV broadcasting deal. As only 52% of the matches are available to UK consumers compared to the rest of the world, every club has a "base" number of games guaranteed for broadcast (10) and the rest is at the discretion of broadcasters. Clubs get £1.2m per game broadcast. The more "popular" clubs get more games broadcast, so therefore more money through facility fees. Which is why we were only the 5th highest earners the season we won the league when the "prize money" figures were released. Worth remembering too, that by having more matches broadcast the "big clubs" gain disproportionately more exposure and therefore can negotiate much more lucrative sponsorship and merchandising contracts compared to other clubs. The Premier League's method of broadcasting is anti-competitive and breeds the corruption we're seeing. -

I posted it a few weeks ago elsewhere but I met a Spurs fan the other week who genuinely said he preferred to finish top 4 rather than win anything. I then reminded him that I was at Wembley in 1999 and they didn’t even deserve to win that one. He wasn’t even ****ing born . -

Except the EFL issued a joint statement with the club saying: “In reaching the settlement, the EFL acknowledges that the club did not make any deliberate attempt to infringe the rules or to deceive and that the dispute arose out of genuine differences of interpretation of the rules between the parties.” Yet another example of the EFL conceding that they have incoherent rules and failed to implement them properly. -
The last few years they’ve had to deal with the death of Vichai, an unprecedented global pandemic that directly attacked their previously successful business model and wiped out a third of Top’s wealth in one go, and highly restrictive financial rules designed by corrupt leagues in favour of corrupt clubs. Despite all that they delivered an FA Cup, two seasons of European football thst would have been Champions League if Brendan hadn’t bottled it or Manchester City’s ban hadn’t been overturned, and showed real ambition by building a world class training facility and getting planning permission for a stadium expansions, hotel, residential complex and arena. They have a lot to be held responsible for but I don’t think it’s a good idea to change an ownership at all. I’m not a KP fanatic or anything but options for “good” new owners are very slim. Our relegation and our current situation is an aberration. The hostility shown to us to the Premier League, its “big six” clubs and its pet EFL cannot be ignored. I don’t think we’ll end up unpunished but I do believe the court case and the employment of de Marco shows they we have an opportunity to make a point about the state of football as it is.

A genuinely offensive article but the quote highlighted is astonishing. Leicester are supposed to be grateful to FFP that they were "able to win the league because" the 'big clubs' would have been even further ahead otherwise? The SAME RULES prevented us from competing as Champions by deliberately restricting our spending power. The one example he uses to try and patronise us into being thankful to the Premier League is literally the best example of how the Premier League has cheated us. Not a single mention in that article about the fact the EFL have already admitted they have acted outside of their own rules and jurisdiction TWICE in the last month. Patronising, factually untrue, client media bollocks. -
This one aged like milk.

If we've "exploited a loophole" then this is surely proof that both leagues are incompetently run? For such a high profile, high value and high stakes organisation to have such wildly unfit-for-purpose rules - AND to have had so many clubs been found breaking them with vastly different treatments from the league - is surely evidence in our favour. The EFL already had a case against us in which they conceded their rules were not fit for purpose, and that incident was TEN YEARS AGO. TWO weeks ago they admitted they had already acted outside of their jurisdiction and yesterday punished the club with an embargo, which we immediately challenged their right to do so. I've said it before, but I'm so ****ing proud of the club for taking a stand against this Kafkaesque nonsense. I honestly don't care if we still end up getting punished. It's the POINT that matters.
