I’ve just completed a 1 year MA, about 17 years after paying £1k a year for an undergraduate degree that I still haven’t paid off. The fees have gone up 800% but the quality of the courses and the actual universities definitely haven’t. If anything, the financial chaos the uni is in has actively affected their decision making which led to a really confused course, especially towards the end, and my outcome has definitely suffered as a result. Most of the people on my course are extremely unhappy. That said I don’t think Labour can do much given the mess the country is in. Fees will have to stay for now before the Uni system can be repaired or reformed. Students will unfortunately suffer as a result.
