The context is that coronary heart disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide but nowadays in the UK 70% of people now survive what was previously almost universally fatal (that is to say, acute myocardial infarction). The context is also that your posts make you come across incredibly small minded, unpleasant and part of the reason this country feels like a bit of a pit at the moment. -

You are right, although again it has to be put into the context of our outcomes aren't "bad" as such, just lagging behind other countries and not improving like they should. I remember the last time this study was published was my first year as a doctor. Most of my seniors discussing it don't like it because it's misleading when taken at face value. We don't have the best health service in the world by most measures, it's just that ours is free and universal which of course is hugely important, but it skews the impression of the headline. What it's saying and most would agree, is that the NHS delivers pretty good outcomes, which are applicable and affordable to the whole population. But it could do a whole lot better on most tangible measures. -

Have you really? Or are my posts on these matters actually filled with context, and is that just your way of dismissing the argument because you haven't got any particular substance to it and don't really know what you're arguing about? -

And like any study it needs to be put into context, and that context is that the NHS continues to succeed in the areas it is fundamentally designed to (its free at the point of care to all) but outcomes are not improving when given the resources thus country has and the state of technology and research they should be, and in the wider context that it is hemorrhaging the staff that keep it going and having its equitable nature threatened by Tory policy. -

Would you care to elaborate on your viewpoint? Edit: having now read the article I understand this is a flippant remark in response to what the study actually says. -
It's desperately sad. I've got no anger towards the parents, much as I wish they'd relent, what an awful situation. I'm also not sure why they're not facilitating a death at home if it's feasible, which with the family prepared to contribute financially it surely must be. It should be noted that the US doc who originally gave them hope said prior to judgement that having reviewed the case he no longer thinks Charlie would benefit.
-
Its selfish because he's waited until it's been demonstrated in court multiple times why Charlie should not go to the USA and the ECJ found their rulings impeccably put together. He's waited until now for maximum emotional impact in a hopeless case. I implore you to read this. http://www.gosh.nhs.uk/news/latest-press-releases/gosh-response-charlie-gard-high-court-ruling-today

He himself has tweeted, to paraphrase, if there's anything we can do for Charlie we should do it. His lawyer has tweeted that he's in contact with his European office to intervene. And the broadsheets are reporting that they've found a doctor and hospital and are prepared to take him over there for treatment.
-
I sees he's waded in on the Charlie Gard case at the last minute, for maximum impact. He's selfish and attention seeking.
-
Sounds like it'll be him with another new signing at the back. I agree with this, Huth and Morgan have been great but have waned.

Vardy Gray Lawrence Barnes **** it, why not.

What little I've read about Ariana Grande made me think she was a massive nob but she's struck as genuinely devastated by what happened after her gig and determined to make something good out of it.

I don't think he's quite there defensively and positionally but the raw attributes are all there. I think he needs first team football to progress and I hope it's with us.
-
This page is ****ing terrible.

My impression from the admittedly limited amounts of seen of all those players is that Gray and Ndidi are the nailed on Premier League players. Chilwell is probably going to be good enough, I suspect Amartey will go abroad. Barnes, maybe. Kapustka will go abroad and I think Lawrence has found his level; he'll bounce up and down between the leagues like the likes of Hoolahan, Dorrans, Koumas do/did. EDIT: This was in response to Melbourne Fuch post, I'd left the browser open.

You haven't felt your heart break til you've assessed a woman your mothers age in ED having had a stroke, a woman not eligible for thrombolysis. She sat there, stricken, barely able to balance herself in the trolley, not even a bed, not even a pillow. Face drooped, arm dangling uselessly. She sat there for about five hours. In the middle of the department for all to see. I quit medicine for sixth months after my A&E placement.

I think a few people here need it clarifying that a paramedic can't leave until a nurse is available to take a safe handover of the patient, if the nurse is already looking after 20 people in the corridor, he or she cannot take another patient. I understand the point you are trying to make but the majority of people who are -persistently- on benefits are not suitable to be a doctor or nurse, for a variety of reasons.
-
I think we may as well have him around the first team.

Depends which antidepressant and even then it's probably not an absolute contraindication. Consult your GP.

He has improved enormously in the past two years, every inch an elite goalkeeper now. Bear in mind that Liverpool, Arsenal, United and City will all need new keepers in the next year or two, there's no way he finishes his career at Leicester. The most inspiring thing of all is that I think Kasper would be reluctant to leave despite those clubs.

If it's something akin to thalassaemia or sickle cell there are definitely sexy African or Mediterranean folk in there somewhere.

B- is the second rarest group but it's more prevalent in many of the ethnic minority groups in the UK, plus can be given to anyone who is B+, so I doubt it was wasted.
-
We're absolutely desperate for blood, especially from rare blood groups like B-. Plus even if it is wasted (hugely unlikely) what's it to you?
