  1. Sure, but it usually relies on a series of heavy wins and/or defeats.
  2. Appreciate the work, but i think it might be more interesting to break it into three (1-8, 9-16, 7-24) as those seem to be the 'pushing for play-offs', 'nothing to play for' & 'relegation dog fight' brackets - unless you have your own, better logic.
  3. You could simply argue that they didn't have to play leeds and southampton twice.
  4. No way you can predict it - but say we lost the 4 games to blow the 9 point advantage and all remained equal between us and Ipswich (if we blow more games than that, GD won't be a factor), that's only four games where we'd have negative GD, the rest would be either equal or +GD, meaning we'd have far more chance of actually increasing our GD than decreasing it. The only way it might be negated is if we lose those four games extremely heavily and fail to win any game by more than a small amount. It would also require Ipswich to have numerous consistently big wins. Again, the rest of the results remaining equal, we'd have to lose 4 games by 3 goals taking our GD down to +31 (this has not happened once this season), Ipswich would need to win four games by 3 goals. (they have only won two games all season by such margin). If it's that close that it comes down to GD, chances are we'll still have a superior figure.
  5. It's only scary if you believe that Leeds are capable of winning all their remaining 13 games....
  6. If you can't be arsed to look, then don't be arsed to make judgements.
  7. Back in the 90s, in london, a professional sweep taught me to turn my brush upside down (ie bristle ends facing forward) and to slide it along on the wooden part of the brush head - so it lasts longer but also reduces the amount of stuff that goes underneath.
  8. Don't say that!
  9. The Good Soldier - Ford Maddox Ford Caribbean Mystery - Agatha Christie The Adventures of Sally - P.G. Wodehouse
  10. How does that ensure fairness? - the concussed team don't have any choice, whereas the opposition can swap out whoever they like. One team has to bring on a replacement or will go down a man, the other team can make a tactical change.
  11. Hard to say - they've been wearing some form of pads an helmets for many years now. Also, if you watch more of this version of the sport, it isn't really as violent as this video hints at - but it does go to show that it can work as sport without the protection and functions as a quite nice stop off between regular american football and rugby.
  12. We played much better after the subs - all the front four changes brought some pace and energy that had been lacking at times. I'm more concerned about the performances of his first choice players - fatawu must have overhit every cross or shot he attempted, mavididi did nothing, KDH looked knackered and was way off form, and daka wasted the best chance of the game at a crucial moment. And Praet is this years tielemans - yunus actually looked like he was fighting for his place. It feels like his policy of rotation has dried up and now players are getting away with inconsistencies, perhaps not through complacency, maybe just through fatigue, but i feel like we need to start mixing things up a bit, there has been noticeable signs of staleness in certain games.
  13. Frustrating, but hard to feel too downhearted - the games that we've not won have generally been games like this, when we haven't played bad but things just haven't clicked in the final third - i'd be concerned if we hadn't turned up or been overly passive, but the stats show that we did more than enough to win this game, sadly for us, that misfiring in the final third is only survivable if we defend solidly. So, for me the worst thing about this game is the second goal, at 1-0 there's nothing in it, 2 down it becomes a real effort - so to conceded that 2nd from our own føkking throw in is unacceptable. People have been defending JJ and arguing that he is superior but the guy offers nothing going forward and on several occasions made a mess of things defensively - just not good enough. Not that he was the only player having a bad day, but to make such a crucial mess of a throw in, and the hopeless response that followed, made all the difference today. Special mention to the dreadful ref who bottled giving clark a second yellow. Hopefully they'll respond positively against Leeds who, let's face it, aren't going to be as defensive as boro.
  14. Well, i suppose the positive thing is we have to play both these teams and they were crap.
  15. Did the commentator really just say: It's getting to the critical period - everything will be decided in the next 14, 15 games.....
  16. I love FT! I make a point, get no likes, you agree with me and get two!
  17. Absolutely. I know our final ball can be a bit poor at times, but west brom were so wasteful. I can see how they shipped goals in their last two. No idea why the commentator is talking like it's been a masterclass from southampton.
  18. I think the red card made a big difference, the so-called penalty etc. they weren't that great and west brom just can't come back from a losing position. It seems like southampton are a very different proposition if you press them, they've been very reckless playing out from the back. If this is their standard, i can see a few more adventurous teams causing them some trouble,
  19. Two good goals, but otherwise southampton have been really poor - had it not been for some fortuitous blocks and some abject final balls from west brom, this could have been very different.
  20. I don't think he 'missed' it, i think he just gave the defender the benefit of the doubt - there were a lot of bodies, a lot of movement, and a very quickly hit shot - even with the perfect angle. which probably didn't have, it was a tough call.
  21. West brom's final ball has been horrendous.
  22. Not sure it was so clear cut - because the player is running at 90 degrees to the flight of the ball, his natural running motion means his hands aren't necessarily in an unnatural position. Certainly an impossible call without replays.
  23. As much as i wanted it to be a penalty, i think the ref got it right. Good to see west brom reset and make a game of it - come out 2nd half the way they finished that half and i can't see southampton finishing with a clean sheet.
  24. I stand corrected...
