I've noticed many of the Union Flags (not Jacks, most certainly not in Leicester) are upside down. I'm not in the least bit patriotic, but even I know that there's a right way to fly it and which way that is. Proof that many of these people have no idea, it's just mindless sheep herding.

One of the big claims is that "immigrants don't integrate!" Pretty much like Brits with their fish n chips and pubs in Spain who can't speak a word of Spanish beyond "Uno cerveza por favor".

ILR is specific to the UK. In the EU there is Permanent Residence, which gives pretty much the same things (access to public funds, right to vote, etc), but unlike ILR doesn't have to be applied for, it is given automatically if certain conditions are met.
