I hate our attacking play… they get into the shape they’re being coached to and then they just stay there! There’s no interchanging runs, it’s just static. If we’re allowed to, we will then slowly work it out wide and then sometimes pop in a cross to a box full of well set defenders. We’re entirely dependent on a bit of individual brilliance or an opposition mistake for goals.

Yeah - if Ruud wanted signings, he had to hit the ground running and get some positivity, feel good factor into the club. Same for Cooper - which could have been as simple as a good looking pre-season. Players (or there agents) will obviously do some due diligence when discussing possible transfers to get a feel for what they’re potentially joining - and I dare say this forum will have been used as a resource for that.

This assumes he’d want to come - it’s been quite apparent both over the summer and in January, not many players of any quality wants to sign up.

Why not - we’re playing the exact same system he was, both with and without the ball. Ruud has tried to make minor changes defensively, such as engaging higher and defending narrower - but it’s the same horrible setup that offers little in attack and the same in resistance going the over way.

Well that was shocking. The most disappointing thing is there needed to be a shape change in our defensive structure. Garner is a dangerous player with the ball and was continually finding space between the lines of our defensive shape. But equally, our attacking patterns are very stale and unimaginative. You look at the numbers Everton get in and around the ball when they have it, there’s a fluidity about their play. To be frank - we’re playing in the exact same manner as we were under Cooper.

I guess this puts paid to the “why can’t we be run like Brighton” comments in here for a few weeks at least.

People forget that making transfers isn’t an exact science and that as easily as you can end up getting a batch of players that make you look like geniuses; you can also easily sign a crop that make you look like idiots.

The problem is, in their haste to accuse Trump of being crass and distasteful in the aftermath of a deeply sad incident - those pointing the figure are doing exactly the same. It feels to me more emphasis needs to be made of the freedom to remain silent - because if everyone speaks, no one has a clue what’s going on.
